enermax single fan PSUs - LOUD?? (or not?)

I'm picking up a new PSU and want an extremely stock quiet one without having to ship cross boarder (live in canada) for something like a silencer, etc..

are these things quiet?...i suspect more quiet than the dual fan models, non?..was considering the 300watt model.

this generic thing i have now is a piece of....

ass.

yeah enermax has some of the quietest fans in their power sources. You can also buy separate enermax fans and put then in a different PS. At a local store I saw purple enermax fans that had manually adjustable RPM in 80 and 120mm size. It didn't say how loud it was, probably cause the fan's adjustable from silent, to loud.

I believe if you buy an FC model it stands for fan control which will allow you to adjust the fan(s) to be whisper quiet.

I have an Enermax 431W, and the fan is quite loud. Not the loudest I've ever heard, I have a louder one sitting on the other side of me, but it's not quiet by any stretch. This was also a dual-fan power supply, with temperature control (not user-controllable). I took out the 92mm fan because it was so loud (leaving only the rear 80mm fan), and wasn't adding to the cooling at all. Additionally, the remaining fan is loud and it's not even working at full throttle. The thermistor is reading only 21 degrees C, which means the air in the case isn't moving up properly into the PSU, and I can feel it blowing cool air out. The thermistor is keeping the fan running at only about 3300RPM (according to the Enermax diagram, up to 35 degrees the fan is only running at 40% of maximum). I can't imagine what this thing would sound like at full throttle.

great....that's just what i wanted to hear.

i'm gonna have to do some more searching for some quieter PSUs then...or attempt to replace the fan in this generic poo...
i'm deaf.
