Enermax Liberty 500w Died

I read the other day about a bunch of people who owned this line of power supply who had the same thing happen in roughly the same amount of time. It was just 2 years old - there were no warning signs ( that I noticed ) , just didnt turn on one day.

Was highly rated at the time too. Has anyone else had this happen and had luck with enermax replacing or compensating? Not that I really want another one that will die down the road.

BTW - Just replaced with a Corsair 550w, everything working fine except my rear case fan - have not figured out why yet.

At least RMA the unit, it should still be under warranty, and I think enermax will replace it. Not sure with WHAT they will replace it though, hopefully something that doesn't die like a lot of enermax liberty units do. It can always be used as a spare/backup unit. Not sure what it is that causes many liberty units to die, but you're not the first one to report about it. Enermax used to be, and I think still is, a decent/good PSU manufacturer, they really dropped the ball with those units though, because that's mostly what people talk about when enermax gets mentioned.

In a way I am glad it happened, because I learned a little bit more in replacing it that I am now comfortable with building my own from scratch.

Think I am going to start piecing together a new Vista machine...just to really torture myself!

I just had a liberty 620 let go that took out the mb and dvd-rw but didn't take anything else out. I'm hoping that the rails that failed were the ones those unfortunate peripherals were attached to so I don't have anymore expensive parts to let go later. I replaced it with an ocz gamexstream 700w ps that is highly rated in its price segment. No more enermax ps's for me and I'm running their high dollar galaxy 850 on my personal machine.

Puffnstuff, when your OCZ goes up in smoke are you going to boycott them as well?
