Enermax Liberty 400W - Fan

Is this normal?

When I turn on the pc it does not spin, just after a while it spins at low rpm. Is it defective or is it normal in this line of psu?

Best.

Well, it's normal for a fan that's going bad... 😉

I would suggest replacing it ASAP, 'cause it will end up killing your PSU (from heat) guaranteed!

Contact enermaxusa.com via email or phone. It's probably normal if your in a cold area of the world. Thanks for the limited post and no profile :disgust:

Set a hair dryer on low, then aim it at the PSU's intake. Do the fan/s speed up?

Doesn't the Enermax have a fan controller? Yes, yes it does. Normal. Unless it doesn't start itself at a normal speed during gaming.

The Enermax liberty spins at a low RPM. I have the Enermax Liberty 620W and it averages around 850RPMs.

If it spins up when the sytem is running then it's probably fine. It just detects temperature, which is very low at boot because it's a high efficiency PSU and doesn't need the fan right away.

I had an Enermax 420 watt and had voltages. But, one of the two 80mm fans starting making weird noises and eventually failed. So, I had one fan working, that's it. It seemed to be fine anyway.

Whatever, I ended up selling my stuff before moving. I now have a Seasonic, but instead of having voltages 1% off, now I'm off by 2.5%.

What are you testing the voltages with? The Seasonic should have more stable voltages then a Liberty.

when the psu heats up a little, it starts spinning. I´ve contacted enermax online with no response. anyone has a liberty 400w?

Best

Hrm...

Well, I guess I can scratch Enermax Liberties off my 'Most Favored PSU' list!

Figures! They're made by Seasonic...

Thanks!

barbaroja, the Liberty has a fan controller. It only spins the fan when it gets a load put on it. The more load the faster the fan goes up to a certain point. The Liberty has great quality and should be on everybodys "Most Favored PSU" list. And FYI, Enermax makes the Liberty, not Seasonic.

Well, that´s certainly what I hope, cause I don´t want it to be fried anytime soon. Something similar was happening to my processor´s cooler until I figured out It was a fan controller thing.

btw, I don´t like the fact that enermax support does not answer

I think I will trust you, dBTelos. Besides, that enermax PSU trip back to factory would be veeeeeeeery loooong.

Just play a game or something then take a look at the fan in the Liberty. If it isn't spinning then you KNOW that either the fan or fan controller is broken. If it's spinning then you're fine.
