Stop saying "saving power". You aren't "saving" anything. You're just using less power. You're doing the same or a similar act, but are using less power or using less money to accomplish the act.

I agree with Minjin. If the guys that started Blackle were smart, they'd just shut down their server. I believe that would use far less power. :)

wouldn't make a difference under which circumstances? That's a fairly general statement. I would think there are conditions in which it would matter. Say using a very large CRT and staying on the google page for hours at a time.

treehuggers need to customize their google page to black and that site must be shut down - then there would be less uage.

Well, that's not entirely true.

Using a PowerMate to read the power consumption in real time, LCD monitors i tried at work with blackle used more power than normal google.

They skew the search results on that site. Do a search on blackle and one on google. You get different results.
