Energy drinks that don't taste like crap?

Monster is great (esp. the green one 70% juice)

Don't like Cocaine (FDA changed it's name, I think)

Which is pretty much the de-facto standard "energy drink" flavor.

All energy drinks that I know of are carbonated, so you're out of luck there.

Try these, though:

Rockstar Juiced
Rockstar Juiced Guava
SoBe Adrenaline Rush
NOS Energy Drink
Kronik Entourage

These are very un-energy drink like, and contain a lot of juice(except the SoBe).. they should be fairly good for you, as far as energy drinks go.

I loved Cocaine. Had a slight burning/numbing sensation as it went down the throat. 🙂

I'm a fan of Monster Assault. Monster Khaos, and the new juice Monster that has 80% juice (to Khaos's 70%), both taste great too. They are morning energy as I refer to them, great tasting juice-filled energy drinks.

I think Monsters taste terrible. Rockstar's are really good, so are the Sobe energy drinks (0 calories even).

Sippin' a RockStar now, actually... "lightly carbonated"

What I like about RockStar is it's not JUST sugar and caffeine, it actually has some vitamins and nutrition... though it destroys your teeth.

I agree. I tried the Monster versions with the juice, and I couldn't stand them.

Rockstar FTW!

At least someone else realizes this. I've been thinking about starting a thread. It's not just limited to Rockstar, though.. All energy drinks are an order of magnitude worse than soda.

I bet we see some sort've dental epidemic from the increased consumption of energy drinks. They are extremely acidic, I believe due to the taurine content. I know that drinking them has taken a toll on my teeth. 🙁

Sobe Adrenaline Rush: orange/melon
Sobe No Fear: grapefruit/orange

Those are the only ones I can stand.
That's the best I can describe the flavors, BTW.

I like the taste of Full Throttle (Original Flavor, I haven't tried the others) and Sobe came out with a juice based drink (30% juice) that was quite good.
I can't stand the bitter aftertaste that some of them have. bleh!

If you like those, definitely try some of the other "Juice" based energy drinks. They are very good.

I grew up on SoBe No Fears, which actually still have amongst the highest caffeine content per serving @ ~115mg.

I'd like to have some energy drinks in my drawer ... our workplace doesn't have free coffee 🙁

Depending on how black it is, how finely its ground, etc.. you're looking at anywhere from 120 to 180mg in an 8oz serving(Most coffee mugs are 16oz).

I actually find that I get the best results alternating between energy drinks and regular coffee. Coffee gives me a new kick after a few weeks of energy drinks, and same the other way around. The body is a funny machine..

I drink them in such a way that I try to get as little contact with my teeth as possible. Then i follow the drink with water, since caffine makes you pee anyway. DO NOT SIP ON AN ENERGY DRINK. That should be common sense 😛

I drink pretty much only redbull. They aren't as big as the others but I don't drink much caffinee. They use a bit higher quality ingredients IMO, the taste is -OK.

As far as nutition, I thought they are just loaded with B vitamins to help you break down the sugars quickly for a big intense sugar-rush feeling. If they're loaded with vitamin A, etc, thats a bit of a scam considering vitamin A, K, etc are fat soluble. You won't absorb them without a bit of fats.

Nah, just the B's..

B2 - 3.4mg
B3 - 20mg
B5 - 10mg
B6 - 2mg
B12 - 6mcg

Taurine - 1000mg
Caffeine - 80mg
Guarana Seed Extract - 25mg
Inositol - 25mg
L-Carnitine - 25mg
Ginseng - 25mg
Milk Thistle - 20mg
Ginko - 15mg

Do you all really have that much of a problem with lethargy? I'm overweight by 25 lbs AND only get 4-6 hours of sleep a night, but I never bother with energy drinks.

Try an Amp if you like Mountain Dew. I have found they don't have that Energy Drink taste that a lot of the others do. Also, it's less fruity tasting than something like the Full Throttle.

It's no different than the millions of Americans that wake up to a pot of coffee.

We have an insatiable appetite for stimulants.

Someone that drinks a pot of coffee(12 cups) is consuming anywhere from 960mg to a whopping 2160mg of caffeine.

I've all but quit drinking energy drinks, but next time I do, I'll look for some that you recommended.
