Enemy Territory: Quake Wars $7.99 w/ Free Shipping

hmm - how is this for LAN parties? Frontlines didn't work out too well at the last one I hosted and the price is right to have it all be legit...

Thanks,
Nat

Hot deal. Great game that is worth playing. It was overshowed at its release due to other hot titles like Orange Box, TF2, and COD4. Perfect time to get into a good multiplayer title.

EDIT: Would be great for LAN parties also..... in SoCal, LANmaniac didn't really get into it for the reason specified above. But given the price, the time is right!

game sucks ass really. played it for about 3 days before i said quites and moved to cod4....then cod5 but i said wtf and went back to cod4

Yup. At LAN parties in the midwest people were playing the ET:QW beta and really liking it. Then TF2/COD4 came out...

Why the bloody hell is this game so cheap now? It came out just a little over a year ago!

Battlefield 2 took about 2 years to get down to about this price.

It got a lot of interest when it was available in beta and I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately around when it came out, TF2 and COD4 came out. Yeah, pretty much killed interest in an otherwise solid team-based shooter.

My local Biglots has tons of copies at $6 each.

Is there a single player option with bots or is this just human MP only?

If you apply all the patches there is a single player mode.

Some series seem to drop in price faster than others. The Quake series seems to be a fast dropper. It took years for BF1942 to drop to a reasonable price for it's age.

It's a fun game and graphics are decent. It runs great. Class based obviously has a slight learning as with any class based fps game but it's fun. Defninitely worth the price.

The game has pretty hefty minimum system requirements -- so I passed when CC had this for $5 around xmas time.

Anybody playing it on a substantially lessor system, or know if it would play at all on something substantially less?

Like a k6-2 500 or an xp-2100+ ?

Would it play at all putting all settings to minimum?

ps - don't make fun of my systems.... i'm not a 'gamer'

The game is great. There is a little bit of a learning curve kinda like in L4D or at least you have to understand it isnt a "I got 40 headshots" kinda game. I had a lot of friends who didnt get past the demo because of that but once you learn the mechanics the game is insanely fun. I would go rounds purely as sniper and just send drones to kill people just to be an ass. Sure you dont rack up kills but anyone who has been killed by a drone will tell you its a keyboard breaking moment.

Because the Battlefield series (up till 2142) is quite a bit more epic than Quake.
