Everyone should read this, and see why we need to end the tax cuts for the rich (250,000+).

http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=3873

Basically we would save close to 950 Billion dollars over the next 10 years,
we would see much greater income equality as the rich would pay a fairer share of taxes.

This isn't some left wing liberal group either, it is a non-partisan think tank.

And in that time, over $20 trillion more will be added to the national debt.

What do you propose to do about that?

$95 Billion a year fixes a $1 Trillion a year problem. How can you argue with that?

Nothing. For the progressive left it isn't about actually fixing problems, it's about "social justice", and sticking it to "the rich".

They can't seem to understand that will only decrease increased future spending. So instead of spending 19 trillion, we'll only spend 18 trillion, compared to our current 16 trillion.

I agree completely. If we have a prayer of surviving as a functioning nation, let alone a superpower, we have to accept that we ALL have to sacrifice. This selfish concept that other people should make sacrifices but not people like me is killing this nation.

People should actually read the report, it gives a good reason to raise taxes on the rich.

Remember this isn't some left wing fringe group this is the respected Center on Budget and Policy Priorities or CBPP.

Lol.

I guess if there isnt a magic bullet to pay off the entire debt then all options to do so are a waste of time.

That's some superior thinking you fellows have there!

It ain't my plan asshat. $95 Billion is barely going to cover the check we just wrote to Sandy Relief.

Sandy is closer to 50 billion total, most of which isn't for the federal government. The 42 billion gain in the first year will more than cover the feds cost. Also most of the feds cost comes from the NFIP which people paid premium into, so it is separate from the budget.

liberals (hence the majority being the lazy of the nation) aren't willing to go back to the Clinton tax days. As a middle-class citizen getting < $50k - and merely in my mid 20's (hence I have plenty of shit I need to buy in building a household + savings) I will still gladly stand and say I would proudly stand as a nation and say we all need to contribute more.

This moral compass of liberals that only want to find the next particular pockets they want to pull from every week is pitiful. As a conservative I say tax all around - loudly and proudly. Find me a liberal that wants to increase taxes as a nation in distress vs. a nation of OMG SOME PEOPLE ARE DOING BETTER THAN I AM!!!

Howard Dean said everyone should pay more taxes.

Here (even from a rightwing source):

Instead of the term "conservative" you should use the more appropriate term, "idiot".

The only reason dems aren't proposing raising taxes on the middle class is because they are smart enough to know that in this economy a middle class tax increase would further slow the economy. That's not the case with having higher taxes on the rich.

At what point does the line really get drawn. Some Dems wanted it at $150.

In reality, they want anyone making more than X person to pay more. Then it will be Y person. Never stops

The hilarious thing about all the bitch idiot conservatives posting here is that conservatives will make a huge political issue over fucking PBS spending when that spending is the size of an electron compared to tax hikes on the rich. You fucking morons.

If going back to Clinton-era tax rates is good, then going back to Clinton-era spending would be even better. Combine the two and you're onto something.

Both need to happen the FC doesn't go far enough, much greater spending cuts and greater taxation needed, ease regulations on small business
Tough medicine needed
As a middle income earner, if I had to pay more I could
