Let people suffer from there own actions. I shouldn't have to pay for this nonsense.

End social security and get those lazy leeches off of it now :D

Well lets be fair then. When Ron R was President he and the Republicans thought it would be a good idea to allow corporate raiders to steal peoples retirements to finance takeovers. In fact Ron was personally responsible for blocking legislation to prevent it.

So since this is no fault of the people who were robbed, give them what money was taken along with what was paid into SS along with amortized interest based on market returns for that time. Then come whining about people suffering for their actions. That would be dead ronnie, the corporations and individuals which participated in this sham as well as the politicians backing it.

I'm good with all that.

Stealing peoples retirements is wrong. Any links on this for the full story?

Its hard to stay out of other peoples lives when they want government in mine and there idiotic choices affect me.

End ss completely :D

OR

Let people opt out and get back anything they paid in and must a sign a waiver never asking for government again, unless government screws up the economy :D

Here's a 1987 one. The story is as old as dirt so it's buried in the internet, but it's a start.
The not so good old days.

My father worked for a company for 30 years and paid into a pension. When the owner sold the company a fellow used that money to buy it, then ran it into the ground and removed as much in assets as possible and declared bankruptcy. Neither my father nor any in the company saw a cent. The man who did this? That's how he earned his living, purposely taking retirements and ruining companies again and again.

As you can tell I'm less than sympathetic with this issue who lost all their money and consequently had to go on SS, and those numbered in the millions. In the end my dad had to get a job and died working full time in poor health. He did not do that to himself.

Why don't you move to an island by yourself...you'll be self sufficient and won't have to pay SSI

Then quit your job so that neither you or your employer are paying into SS.

A far more elegant solution than whining about SS on the internet.

I can`t believe that you are so ignorant that did not know this........

He doesn't know what he is speaking of. "Freedom" to him is let me do what I want with everything I have and when it backfires on me... bail me out. Actually, I honestly think it is just ignorance and that he doesn't understand why we have SS and the reason it is needed. The unforeseen can always happen, and it is the life vest to protect you from that unforeseen.

The younger folks today are more worried about paying off their $100k+ student loans and buying BMWs to keep up with their peers. Very few will actually save any money for retirement. Pensions are gone. Everything cost more. They will not even invest in a 401k assuming they have a job. That's ok though, I will be dead and gone when their shit hits the fan and they create chaos and go full blown socialism. So yeah, stop my SS withholding now and let me keep my money.

There is no way I would quit my job, I just want my Freedom back

As long as you have a job you and your employer are paying into SS for your benefit. So either quit your job or quit whining.

Freedom and the privilege of living in a civilized society have a price. Deal with it.

A ponzi scheme is not sustainable. It cannot be. SS is sustainable.

When people are given the option to completely opt out of SS and retain their money what would happen to the system? Oh that's right it would crash and burn. SS is only sustainable so long as government compels people to pay into the entire SS system. Just as a ponzi scheme is only sustainable so long as investors keep pouring money into it in order to continue paying out early investors but once that investment dries up the entire scheme goes belly up.

Then you are free to move to a non-civilized society, might I suggest Somalia. There's not much government there, so you would be freer.

There is no government there, give your head a shake. I WANT SMALL GOVERNMENT NOT NO GOVERNMENT

Are you able to understand this?
