End of ISIS?

ISIS reportedly preparing for the end of its ‘caliphate’
Jihadis concede defeat but hatch secret post-caliphate plan for terror surge.

Even as it launches waves of terrorist attacks around the globe, the Islamic State is quietly preparing its followers for the eventual collapse of the caliphate it proclaimed with great fanfare two years ago.

In public messages and in recent actions in Syria, the group’s leaders are acknowledging the terrorist organization’s declining fortunes on the battlefield while bracing for the possibility that its remaining strongholds could fall.

At the same time, the group is vowing to press on with its recent campaign of violence, even if the terrorists themselves are driven underground. U.S. counter terrorism experts believe the mass*casualty attacks in Istanbul and Baghdad in the past month were largely a response to military reversals in Iraq and Syria.

Meh. As long as radical Islam exists, there will be terrorism from them. But without the resources of a nation to fund terrorism, they will be severely limited.

For leaving Iraq in the hands of ISIS?
For trying to regime change Syria via US-armed terrorists?

Thanks, Obama indeed!

You really didn't know that the Iraqi government wanted us to leave?

That an agreement was signed between the two governments?

That it was signed by the Bush administration?

Would you have had us re-invade Iraq?

Go ahead, be an apologist for Syria. Totally ignore what Clinton and Obama did there.

As for Iraq, the agreement can be altered when half the country falls to genocide.

The country didn't fall to genocide moron.

And we aided the middle east and other affected countries with Syria.

Are you purposely putting your ignorance on display for all to see?

Agreed. As much as I'd love to believe the "good news", didn't ISIS control enough land to almost class as a small country, as well as captured some oil fields? (I'm no expert... just bits I remember reading here and there.) That's a lotta' people, resources and money... where'd it all go?

Thanks, Obama!

Most of ISIS's problems were internal finances or lack thereof. It's amusing that their own publications were very upfront about this, with a level of transparency rarely seen in the west.

Ironically that's why the latter can easily take credit for this, because their citizen don't bother to read anyway.

You act like cutting off their ability to sell their stolen oil wasn't an objective.

No more ISIS but probably a president Donald Trump?
Shit.... just can't get ahead no matter what.
And hows you day going? 😉

Iraq deal was signed under Bush. Obama wanted to extend it but the Iraqi requirement to try US Soldiers in an Iraqi court if a crime is suspected was something no president will ever agree too. We are back in Iraq anyways now. Syria was a stupid idea. Expect more of that stupid logic when Clinton is elected.

Yeah it is hard when a population flees due to being a bunch of genocidal assholes. The tax base dries up. Without a tax base no govt can survive.

Have you been following the daily news? They've lost tons of men and vehicles to airstrikes, banks holding their money destroyed, mobile oil refineries destroyed, ground attacks in Iraq taking territory away from them, and they admit in their own magazine that they're out of money and can't pay their troops. I think technically they still hold most of their territory but since they're broke they're obviously aware that the hold is tenuous.

Thanks for the breakdown, and bloody good news. 😉

Of course, there's no enemy more dangerous than one backed into a corner with nothing left to lose...

Final push, world, and this turd will be out and down the drain.

I don't believe that for a second and neither should you. We just had the largest gun massacre in American history from a single Muslim nutter. The ideology is a far far greater threat than ISIS ever was. The ideology is still alive and thriving. Engaging ISIS only fans the flames of that ideology. I simply do not hold the view that this ideology is something that we can engage with militarily to any meaningful effect. Can you explain how things will get better if ISIS is toppled? What do you expect to replace them? If the entity that replaces them is the same or worse, what should we do? How many people do we have to bomb and kill before the Middle East is fixed?

For leaving Iraq in the hands of ISIS?

Not doing that would've required Obama to tear up the agreement that his predecessor made with Iraq... imagine the response from conservatives if he did that... would've been entertaining moments from Alex Jones and Fox News at least.

As for Syria... yeah he's more at fault there. But it's not as if republicans all said don't arm Syrian fighters.

This.

Abu Omar al-Shishani has been reported as killed.

Shishani's real name was Tarkhan Batirashvili but he was also known as Omar the Chechen.

Daesh will probably drop underground again, I even posted somewhere the other day about NATO getting the AWACs they have out of mothballs to assist airstrikes.

....and spread out across the world... You should expect worldwide terrorism to ramp up. Now that they won't be engaged trying to run a state and purging Christians, they can commit fully to planning and executing terrorist attacks around the world.
