Geocities was where all the shitty webpages were before there was a myspace.

we've come so far, yet we've progressed so little

awesome.

my geocities page from when I was in high school still comes up on a google search for my name... and I can't do anything about it because I don't have access to the email address that I setup the account with.

Ahh these sorts of pages really bring back memories... kids these days just don't know the fun of making a shitty webpage anymore 🙁.

Lol, my geocities site is still up, but in its last incarnation as a keyword redirect site designed to direct traffic to another site I used to run.

Some of those pages were actually good and informative.

Quite a few of them still are. A lot of people with limited computer skills have posted ridiculously detailed information on their obscure hobbies (Pachinko machines anyone?).

Wow crazy. I definitely had a couple of those way back in the day. Black backgrounds and neon text ftw! And don't forget poorly inserted gifs. And MIDI! Hell yes.

I remember that I had a Java Chat Applet on my page and one day, I CALLED my friend to tell him to go to my page so we can CHAT online. Heheh, sounds ridiculous now, but this was before IM clients. I think ICQ may have been out (this was 1994-5ish), but I didnt know of it.

Geocities, angelfire, and tripod were awesome at the time but mainly tripod since of the three they were the only ones that didn't add crap to your sites for the longest.
