Encoding DVDs with Linux - newb help!

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to encode DVDs under Linux? I gather DivX is getting near to completion for Linux, but I'm going to need a ripper, encoder, etc....

Oh, and on a seperate note, just got Mandrake 9 thru the post with OpenOffice + KDE 3 - damn this is better than 8! Seriously considering Linux-only now.....
