I was trying to give people who aren't playing Far Cry something, so if they get somewhere near my score, they should be able to play it at a similar leve. Yes, I know - DX9 vs opengl, yadda, yadda, yadda - it just seems like everyone can relate to that time demo. And I aslo have been playing Far Cry at the settings above + everything set to very high quality in the game and the sm3.0 beta path, and it looks really good and runs even better. Getting a some weird stuff though, like a bookcase on top of my Humvee at one point...anybody else experiencing weird things, or is it just me?

BFG10K - just because you feel something should be done a certain way (don't use AA with Far Cry it runs too slow) doesn't mean we should all do it. Don't get pissy and yell at me, anyway! :) People on this forum are so touchy!

Your right. Although the log released with the 1.1 patch states that support is there I also cannot seem to get SM 3.0 enabled, although I can in 1.2. I might see if I can find the log file released with 1.2 anywhere. :frown:

I haven't tried Ansio from within the game yet. "Quality" checked in the rendering quality, 6800 @ 400/875, XP3000+, 1 gig hyperx, raptor. Played the game for hours, no problems, no slow downs. Looks awesome. Don't say it can't be done. I get about 55 fps in the doom3 time demo with this set up @ 1600*1200 at high quality. Oh, I am also using the 65.73 drivers and patch 1.2. Good luck getting your rig going as fast as possible!

Althought I do not know what fps I'm getting my 6800GT seems to be coping with Far Cry at 1920 x 1200. Honestly I gest not. I do not have FSAA or AF enabled. In fact I have the shodows set to normal also, everything else is set to high. I have only just started playing the game at that res since last night so cannot really say with any real conviction that gameplay will continue as smooth as it is now. :)

AA was developed to smooth rendered edges on low resolution displays, once there was a limit if you remember. If you use a higher resolution then don't use AA... if you like AA then use a lesser resolution. If you're trying to run a game at 1600x1200 w/ 4x AA then you really don't have much of a clue as to what's going on or how to setup a PC game.

I think the point of his question was that he wanted to have the resolution AND the AA - it honestly does look better with the AA on, and if you can't notice a FPS drop, why not run it?

I'd personally boost anisotropic filtering until I reached the performance wall. Pound for pound it'll offer much better image quality than doubling up on AA and high res.

hexk i dont even play with AA or AF at resolutions like 1024x768.... i have a 6800gt but simply dont care much for aa or af

at 12x10 i simly cannot tell the difference between 0xaa nd af and 4xaa 8x af
