Enabling Cool n' Quiet

wtfbbq

Senior member
I have a AMD 64 3500+ with a VIA K8T800Pro motherboard. I disabled Cool n' Quiet awhile ago, but now I wish to enable it again. When I disabled it all I did was turn it off in the BIOS. I have re-enabled it in the BIOS but in Windows it does not detect that Cool n' Quiet is on (it is always 2.2 ghz and in the Power Management settings there is no tab for CnQ). I tried updating the processor drivers from AMD but it still doesn't work. Halp please? 🙁

edit: I just installed Everest (a program that tells you info on your hardware) and under CPU speed it keeps moving down to about 1 ghz with a cpu multiplier of 5x. So I think it actually IS enabled? woot! someone correct me if I am wrong?

It seems like it is working.

But make sure you set it to "Portable/Laptop" in Power Options/Power Schemes.

Good luck!

its defo working but you are supposed to set it to minimal power saving in the power options in winxp, also make sure you have the latest AMD driver off AMD's website.

use Cpu-Z to check it.
