Enable sidebar menu question

Because the sidebar has ads in it which pay for the site, and the site owners generally like to make money?

There are third party browser plugins which will remove the sidebar, but I wouldn't wait around for AnandTech to provide the option. It was obviously designed that way for a reason.

Actually, the option is there, it's in Personal Options. But it doesn't work (of course).
