What ever the emulator (SNES, NES, GBA etc.), and whatever platform it is being played on (PC, PPC, GBA etc.).

What do you play on and what do you emulate?

I'm playing with a NES emulator on my PC, and I'm using nester. I, for the first time in my life, finished Super Mario Bros. 3. I've never had the patience before to.

I've heard that you can get emulators for a PPC, what can you get? I want to be able to play SNES games on it. Possible?

Tactics Ogre, old PS game. Also Xenogears, FF V. I tried Ogre Battle (N64 game), but it had all sorts of problems.

Nintendo's official stance on emulators is that they are illegal. There is a link to it (their official statement) somewhere around here...

What can I use for SNES on a PPC? I have an Intel processor, but the few that I am finding are made for ARM proccesors.

How Does Nintendo Feel About the Emergence of Video Game Emulators?

The introduction of emulators created to play illegally copied Nintendo software represents the greatest threat to date to the intellectual property rights of video game developers. As is the case with any business or industry, when its products become available for free, the revenue stream supporting that industry is threatened. Such emulators have the potential to significantly damage a worldwide entertainment software industry which generates over $15 billion annually, and tens of thousands of jobs.

What Does Nintendo Think of the Argument that Emulators are Actually Good for Nintendo Because it Promotes the Nintendo Brand to PC Users and Leads to More Sales?

Distribution of an emulator developed to play illegally copied Nintendo software hurts Nintendo's goodwill, the millions of dollars invested in research & development and marketing by Nintendo and its licensees. Substantial damages are caused to Nintendo and its licensees. It is irrelevant whether or not someone profits from the distribution of an emulator. The emulator promotes the play of illegal ROMs , NOT authentic games. Thus, not only does it not lead to more sales, it has the opposite effect and purpose.

How Come Nintendo Does Not Take Steps Towards Legitimizing Nintendo Emulators?

Emulators developed to play illegally copied Nintendo software promote piracy. That's like asking why doesn't Nintendo legitimize piracy. It doesn't make any business sense. It's that simple and not open to debate.
sounds like these are illegal

i thought you had to own the actual game to have and play the ROM, otherwise it was illegal?

they should make it so that once the games are no longer sold in retail stores they are free to do with as you please.

That is the problem. All of the games I mentioned are no longer sold (except FF V, but I no longer play that ROM), and can only be obtained on eBay for large sums of money. In that case I'm buying from third party individuals anyway, so the game companies aren't making any money. There are no moral issues in it, really, just legal ones.

Xscales are ARM compatible, as is Intel's older Strongarm SA @ 206MHz. Use something like Morphgear, I guess.

NES, SNES, a bunch of gameboy variations, and PS1, since my TV is busted :(. Mostly to play adventure/RPG games like Zelda and FF. Oh, and MarioKart on the SNES.

ROMs are highly illegal.

But the emulators themselvs are untouchable.
