I'm assuming that there are working emulators out there and my computer (2500+/1GB) can handle them....

I'd like to play my old playstation (the original) games on my computer, but I definitely want to use my dual shock controllers (the vibrating ones with analog sticks), and hopefully my memory card. Are there any accessories/connectors/adapters I can buy to connect my PS1's controllers and/or memory to my PC and have everything work with an emulator or am I being too dreamy eyed? Similarly, is there anything like that for the N64? (Mario Kart 64 w/ 4 people at full speed would be beautiful...)

I'm thinking the easier alternative is to just bite the bullet, get a refurb'ed PS2, and connect it to the 2001FP I'm ordering in about six weeks. But then I'd be neglecting the Nintendo goodness...

You can find PS2 controller -> USB adapters, but I'm not too sure about the memory cards.

Project64 is the best N64 emulator i know of.

i personally use a $12 Logitech USB gamepad i got from best buy. its a total rip off of the PS2 controller minus the vibrate(which i doubt you could ever get to work on the PC anyhow)

Seconded.

epsxe is a good playstation emulator. Kinda tricky to get set up, but it works well.

I think I've even seen adapters that support both Playstation and N64 controllers.

Found it!

Thanks!
Would you happen to know if I could stick my PS game discs in my computer and have the emulator handle them or if I have to download ROMS? (well, I suppose I have to in the case of the N64...)

I don't think you can use the memory card.
For ePSXe, yes, you can just use the CDs. ePSXe is awesome.

Dunno about the PS stuff. The best N64 emulators are Project64 1.5 SP and 1964 0.99, I'd say they're about equal, one works better for some games, the other for others. There's also a ton of graphics plugins which are just as important as the emulator itself... dunno much about them, I'm currently using Rice's Video Plugin 5.something and it works pretty well. Useful resources for this kind of stuff are emulation64.com and emutalk.net. As for peripherals, look into something called the Adaptoid, it basically adapts an N64 controller to a USB port; I've heard good things about them, though I don't have one myself.
