Anyone have an idea of if it can span that distance without anything supporting it except on the ends? I'm thinking probably 1 1/2" conduit, but I could go up to 2"

TIA!

Did you want to buy some? 😛

<---- OT.

LOL. Replied and it got moved.

Can you support it from the top? What about just bridging the gap with another piece of metal or wood?

How much load will there be? 1.5 should be fine, but might sag esp. if items end up hanging from it.

I know in my basement, nothing is safe from hanging clothing on.

Thanks for the reply!

It's actually not being used for conduit at all, but it's the cheapest thin wall steel I can find without placing a larger order through a steel supplier. It's going to have some weight on it (canvas hanging, and maybe something else now and then), but not much, and there really is no way I can brace it at all over the 8' (It will be 8' now, definitely.) Maybe I could place something inside of it, like put a 1" inside of a 1.25" or 1.25 inside of a 1.5", but I need to make sure it won't slide around at all

Hmmm...
