emscomputing + Antec SX830 = Grrrrrrr!

I'm getting all the components for my new computer in by Friday...or, almost all. Despite the fact that emscomputing said the case was in stock, and the tech I talked to yesterday said it was in stock, it's out of stock until the 20th.

I am not going to wait until the 20th! Ideally, I would like to get an Antec SX830 case on or before Friday without paying more than $110 or so. There are a lot of B&M stores in my area (Allentown, PA), but none of them seem to have it. Otherwise, I need to get a different case -- by Friday. Any suggestions would be very welcome!

[Edit: Best Buy has a wimpier Antec case, the 282...anyone know anything about this?]
 
Antec 1030 or 1040. Same case, 300 vs. 400 watt power supply. I got it from EMS. They ship the cases from Florida.

It's easy to find low prices on the net, but hard to find quick service! If I didn't need the thing in two days it wouldn't be a problem. Directron has it, but to ship it in 2 days costs as much as the case.

At this point I'm resigned to getting a case at a local store, so I need to find something that is not an SX830 but is still acceptable for an Athlon 1.3GHz system.

Yeah, I'm wondering about the 282 now...clearly not as good as the 830, but by how much?

 
I also have the KS282. It is a nice midtower. Not as nice as the 830/1030. The main difference is that the 282 has one less external 5.25 bay and only has provisions for two case fans; one intake and one exhaust. The KS282 does come w/the P303x 300w AMD-approved PS. It is a very nice case. Cheap too! Compared to other cases at this price point, there is no competition. The 830/1030 are much more future-proof though. I would get the 830/1030. Good luck.

Actually when I got my monitor from them, it was shipped from Indiana even though there store is in Fl.
At the time I lived in fl and I was pretty bummed.
 
Check out Microbarn They are in NC so ground might get it there by the time you need it. And of course there is always second day. At least they are close to PA so shipping should not be too bad. They have the SX1030B, SX1040 and the 282 in stock.

What I learned (and this is not really a big shock) is that their online stock-checking link is useless, and talking to one of their people is useless. I should have ordered it farther in advance.



 
EMScomputing, in general, is useless. Sorry you had to find out too. I ordered my case and some case fans from them. Let's just say my experience w/their shipping/tracking methods was bad enough that I did start a flame-EMS thread. Which promptly got me flamed by other Forum Members who thought I was being &quot;difficult&quot;. Not a happy week in my life. I will never order from them again. That is a bold and true statement.

Their customer service consists of very unhappy, part-time high school students who could care less about your order. I found this out when I called to inquire about the status of my order. Oh yeah, did I mention that their tracking sucked? I never got a confirmation email saying my order had shipped AND their own website order tracking app showed my order had not shipped. A week after I had received the first part of the order! Can U say &quot;duh?&quot;

But, everything I purchased did eventually arrive in one piece, albiet, barely in one piece. I got lucky, I guess. Good luck to you; I hope your order arrives safe and sound.
 
Allright, time to hit pricewatch and find another place to get this from. Thanks for the heads up about emscomputing.
 

Update: I cancelled the order with emscomputing...woe unto them if they try to charge me a restocking fee! I ordered the SX830 through kdcomputers.com, and paid an unfortunate amount for shipping. The extra shipping cost was worth having the case earlier, so I went with it. I hope the case is worth it. 🙂

 
You will like this case very much, especially if you're upgrading from a &quot;regular midtower&quot; case. Lot of room inside and it's built like a tank. Short of starting a server farm, this should be the last case you'll ever need. That's how I feel about my 1040. Congrats and good luck.
 
Yeah I was looking for the sx840 at kdcomputers, like $148 shipped. Can't I get a Lian Li at that price?? Maybe I'll try somewhere else
 
Best Buy has the Antec cases in its BM stores.
Decent price to.
sales people were pretty clueless when I asked for help ,cases are locked in a case behind counter.
 
I am in a somewhat similar situation. I ordered the sx840 from them and it took them 4 business days to ship it. Ordered it July 4th, hoping that it will be processed and shipped the next day, the 5th. After 2 calls and 1 email about the status of my order, they shipped it on Tues, the 10th.

Their prices are good. They do have quite a few sx840's in stock. The CS rep, was polite and helpful. But their only flaw is their sluggish shipping. 4 days to actually ship an order. lame.

i think the sx830 series are built much better than the sx1030's, i have both of them and the sx830 is just so easy to work with and it has one more fan place than the sx1030's

Actually the problem was more your insulting attitude towards high school workers. I am sure you had a job during high school, ya?? Unless you were a lucky rich folk or a lazy bum.
