While people of all races have surely been lynched around the world, people from the southern portion of America have a fine tradition of lynching mostly blacks. Therefor when there is an insinuation of hypothetical lynching in the south against what is generally accepted to be a black person, the connection seems clear. It isn't directly racist, mind you, but in context it is clearly racist.

A lynching is an execution by a group of people outside of the law. People of all colors and creeds have certainly been lynched, but the lynchings that are most present in everyone's minds in the south now are those of blacks, which most often ended with said blacks hanging from trees by their necks. It is now rather unfashionable to actually lynch anyone, but the tradition is readily cited by the descendants of both the lynchers and the lynchees. Both seem to delight in bringing lynching up as either an impotent threat on one side, or a demand for reparation on the other

The difference is that bush looked like a monkey because he looked like a chimp and Obama is black and that is the ONLY basis upon which to call him a chimp.

The right of political free speech is not the same as a right to hate speech.

Also, there are plenty of racist democrats and libertarians.

really? You think so? SOme dickwad young republican reported a fellow Duke student back in~2005 when he visited her apartment, and she had all of these anti-Bush posters all over her wall.

Sure enough, the SS visited her apartment within a week.

The rednecks in this story, and back since '08, have been trying to hang the man in their front yard. Frankly, that is simply part of the SS's job--it doesn't really matter how legitimate the supposed "threat" may be, but they do have to investigate these things.


and as for spidey's little theory about politicians and lynching in effigy, I'd like for him to show me examples of such effigied lynchings occurring outside of the Deep South, where very real and very serious lynching of black people occurred quite regularly.

I mean, "It's what we know best!", right?

The idea of chair hanging is totally repulsive. The idea of ANYONE looking at this as cute or amusing or creative or fun just shows me how fucking sick this country has become under republicans AND tea party terrorist.
