Yay for adults being able to stay in their parents basement longer playing WoW.

You mean YAY for the 100s of Thousands of College graduates that can't get jobs with medical benefits or even jobs at all.

No. I mean yay for adult children playing WoW in their parents basement. There are jobs. The problem is todays spoiled children don't want to do them.

You sound like a kid and don't know real people or real world if you think that. 1000's today apply for 1-2 openings. Jobs are lacking more than anything. Granted there are underachivers out there but not the norm.

The only kids going on their parents' policies to age 26 will be the uninsurable, which will drive up costs for all other members of the group plan. Any person <= age 26 in anything close to reasonable health can get an individual policy on the open market for much less than what it will cost to add them to a parent's policy.

That's really assuming a lot of things. I know several people at my job that added their kids back to their plans either because they are continuing education students or they are graduates that had to accept jobs with little to no benefits because their just isn't any jobs out there. Yesterday an HR friend of mine told me about a job opening in a relatively entry level tech position that got 1200 apps. I am not even kidding. From all over the US. That got filtered down really quick based on requirements and further tweaking to not make it a nightmare to go through, but 1200 apps none the less.

That's not assuming a lot of things. I know the market. I am telling you that a healthy kid <= age 26 can get a private policy on the open market for less than they can get on a group policy. The only assumption is that the employer doesn't heavily subsidize dependents on the group policy (most employers do not subsidize dependents a whole lot). It has nothing to do with that kid being employed or what's happening in the job market. Mom and Dad can take the $100-300/month that the spend on the kid and go buy an individual policy with better coverage. Healthy kids cost practically nothing to insure.
