A lot of grunge music *is* pretty emo. Did you look at the lyrics of any nirvana songs?
 
People have been saying that since the 1980's, but emo always seems to reinvent itself just in time to survive and come out the other side even bigger and more popular. You have to realize that we're talking about a genre that was considered "dead soon" when most of the industry still thought Whitesnake was the future of rock and roll and Kurt Cobain was entering high school. Saying emo is almost dead is like saying punk is almost dead or rap is almost dead. It is too broad and way too pervasive to just die off.

For example, Jimmy Eat World was considered dead (and dropped from their major label) because Limp Bizkit was getting huge. That's how long those guys have been around, and now they're on their 3rd major label, bigger than ever (though probably less emo than ever, too). They can't be killed.

In five years, your pet goldfish will have jet-black fins and scars. 😉 Buy stock in hair-dye! 😉
 
Whiny pathetic losers will always write songs about how their life sucks and girls won't fuck them. Emo isn't going anywhere. But it might sound different tomorrow than it did today.
 
saw a kid at target wearing two hoodies with the hoods both up and offset so that he had to turn his head way sideways to see anything and only one eye was visible......

how is this comfortable? how is this a style?


I hope they all die soon.
