Since I live by there I'm probably going to take some digital pics of the places the scenes were taken and compare them to the movie.
 
the funny thing is that Eminem didnt even grow up on 8-mile nor did he live in detroit. He lived closer to 9 mile and lived in Warren. He went to a prominently white school.

but he acts like he grew up in the ghetto. Hell, i recognize some of the settings there. Detroit Stamping Plant.

BTW, 8 mile is considered(but i think it should be 9 mile now) the splitting point between the ghettos of Detroit and the suburbs. It is a desolate area and truely does suck. It does happen to have the only Long John Silvers in a 30 mile radius, though. 😉

Hmmm the title specifically states what the thread is about and haters need to come in here and spew their own garbage.

Don't like him? Fine. Stay out of this thread then. It really isn't so difficult of a concept to grasp, even with a feeble mind.

He makes me embarrassed to say i came from that area....just my opinion though:|
 
Before all the haters say how they hate Eminem, maybe they should do a little reading and realize that the movie, and the actor, are getting good, not just decent, reviews. I don't care who he is, I'm going to see the movie, as a movie. 🙂

LOL, as another Michigan-Detroit-surburb resident, it's funny to think that anyone would consider Eminem a ghetto-born kid. The ghetto's are in Detroit, not Warren. There is some pretty interesting history how 8 mile was considered the border seperating blacks and whites long time ago.....MI people help me out, that was 8 mile right? 😱
 
BTW, does anyone else find that "Mama" song extremely excrutiating to listen to?? Couldn't he get someone w/ an ounce of singing talent to sing the chorus?

I guess since I bought his CD and listen to it quite often that I am a " 'hood crackhead" 😕

I would like to offer you a bit of advice, close mindedness only hinders your ability to learn. No one says you have to agree with it, but learning about it, gives you that right.

And for the record, I am a white male that grew up in the burbs and I do work a 50 hour work week and I like Eminems music.
