Ya know, it never ceases to amaze me. You guys are so quick to say what a piece of garbage he is, yet I'm sure most of you like a good horror flick every once in a while. What's the difference? It's just 2 different forms of entertainment. Eminem is no different than all those violent movies or video games that ya'll love so much. If you don't like his music, fine. But don't be saying what a piece of garbage he is and then go watch movies, play games, or listen to other types of music that deal with the same subject matter. Yes, his lyrics are a little more blunt and to the point. But you know what? It is the same stuff that is in other music too. Other music just has obscure references to it, but it's talking about the same thing. Period. He just doesn't pull his punches.

As someone who is not quite qualified as a professional counselor---yet

I can't help but see him as terribly, terribly troubled. I fully expect him to crash and burn...

And as talented and gifted as people seem to think he is... He has a strange, nasally quality in his voice that gets my intuitive antennae spiking. Methinks the boy aint right!

Eminem OD's, gets shot, etc...

Pictures at Eleven.

As a woman... well. Let's just say if you put on an Eminem CD for a girl and she tolerates it, she probably has extremely low self-esteem. Even as wounded as I was when I was younger, I avoided the guys who obviously didn't respect me and my gender. I managed to find all the ones who secretly didn't respect me and my gender! :D :D

As someone trained and familiar with the arts, he is just shock theater. Where are the Genitorturers when you need them? :D :D

Disclaimer

If you like Eminem, it doesn't mean I have a problem with you. I'm just expressing my opinion, just as you are. You asked for our thoughts. It's not worth fighting over, 'cause my bet is that in 5 years, he will be gone. He's in self destruct mode and thinks he is invincible.... Crash and burn.

I think he's an arrogant asshole, rude and with a total lack of manners, a terrible singer, a mediocre "rapper", a horrible lyricist, and above all, a terrible role model for anyone. And in my personal opinion, he's nucking futs!

Swoopman: When a person sings a song, people usually associate that the song has a special meaning to the singer. So it's understandable why some people think he may be serious. But the constant repetition of the cr@p he talks about leads people to doubt if he's really just kidding.

I think Eminem is great, his lyrics are so funny. I also openly admit I have a sick sense of humour.

I have a "sick" sense of humour as well - but it doesn't go so far as to find comedy in a guy writing a descriptive song about killing his ex-wife as her child watches.

--

You know why people like Eminem? Because he "keeps it real". You know who likes Eminem? Kids. Kids who think that "keeping it real" means putting everything down and cursing and hating everything. Thats not keeping it real; its merely keeping it hateful.

Children, there is a reason why adults don't listen to S**t like Eminem, because its for kids made by a guy with a child's mind. Its not because as adults we (ok I'm only 22 but I'm borderline hehe) can't "keep it real" anymore and we're broken by white-collar society. Its because we are simply wiser than Eminem and the people who like much of his stuff.

Granted even a crappy artist can have the ocassional good song, and Eminem has a couple but for the most part his stuff is crap, and so is he.

In no way am I trying to 'keep it real'. People think that i'm a wigger who just tries to be black cause i talk wit an accent....(lyrics from one of his songs)just joking ;)

I just personally really find his lyrics funny. How isn't "New kids on the block, suck a lot of dick, boy girl groups make me sick" not funny? And yes, I find "KIM" and "Just the two of us" funny also. Why? No particular reason, the same reason that I laugh when Tom Green has a piece of sh!t on a microphone, and tries to interview people.

OK Tom Green IS funny...normally but thats partly cause he makes fun of himself, and partly because he is never joking about killing his wife. I dunno, I just can't see anybody with a good girlfriend/wife finding kim anything but disgusting - because it was a very real sounding song.

He has some sweet punchlines and clever lyrics, but he's the definition of a sellout. He tries to act hard yet goes on MTV. He is now focusing on the pop groups, as if they have any influence or affect on anything. Just shut up and make music, don't be such a whore...

His attitude annoys me but what annoys me more is the fact that everyone praises the garbage he sings. Some of his songs do have some point to them but the others are just plain garbage. He's an extremist wanna be who sings about the things he wish he could do but in reality he can't because he's nothing but a friggin punk.

The guy he hit with the gun a while back had to be a little school girl to let someone like Eminem to that to him.

OK...Like I said before:

If parents would actually raise their kids and take responsibility for their own actions and set some good examples, it wouldn't matter what they hear or see after a certain age. Until they get to that age (16-18), it is the parents responsibility to monitor what they see and hear to the best of their ability. No, they can't be with their kids 24-7, but if they lay down right and wrong from the beginning, chances are that the kid will do what is right. I did. So did just about everyone I hang with now. We all listen to Eminem, Korn, Dre, and even Manson. But our parents laid down the law at an early age, and it stuck with us.

"Follow me and do exactly what the song says:
smoke weed, take pills, drop outta school, kill people, drink
And jump behind the wheel like it was still legal
I'm dumb enough to walk in a store and steal
So I'm dumb enough to ask for a date with Lauryn Hill
Some people only see that I'm white, ignorin skill
Cause I stand out like a green hat with a orange bill
But I don't get pissed, y'all don't even see through the mist
How the fusk can I be white, I don't even exist
I get a clean shave, bathe, go to a rave
Die from an overdose and dig myself up out of my grave
My middle finger won't go down, how do I wave?
And this is how I'm supposed to teach kids how to behave?

Now follow me and do exactly what you see

Don't you wanna grow up to be just like me?
I've been with 10 women who got HIV
Now don't you wanna grow up to be just like me?
I got genital warts and it burns when I pee
Don't you wanna grow up to be just like me?
I tie a rope around my penis and jump from a tree
You probably wanna grow up to be just like me!"

He was a better artist (relatively speaking) before most of his songs were about himself. Now I just see him as just another pompous, arrogant rapper.

His previous CD's (Infinite, Slim Shady EP, Slim Shady LP) were a lot better because the lyrics were just wacky and you could tell he was just joking around. In his quest to provide more shock value, he's gotten more one-dimensional and trite.

Not that he wasn't before, but..........

He's a punk. I'd like to sock him in the eye.

The only person I want to sock more is Kid Rock.

I'd like to sock Kid Rock in the eye and in the mouth.
