I was saying that I hate ignorance (the same way you hate rap) - but the only difference is I was keeping my mouth shut. There, that's the last I'm saying about my post 🙂

Linh, my point is, don't be so damn ignorant - it doesn't help at all. If you had said &quot;I don't like rap&quot;, then fine. But retarded statements like &quot;Rap Blows&quot; just pisses me off, don't talk trash about something you don't know anything about - because that's the epitomy of ignorance my man.
 
Everytime I get to the OT forums somebody is here saying that &quot;rap sux.&quot; The thing is if you don't understand or like rap keep your opinion to yourself. Since you weren't born in to the culture it's understandable that you dislike it, but for those of us that grew up completely exposed to rap then it's totally offensive when people make igmorant statements like, &quot;rap blows.&quot;

I wasn't born around country people and I don't even ever hear country music here in NYC but I don't go around saying &quot;country blows.&quot; The same goes for alot of different types of music. The least some people could do is respect others culture:|

Yeah, but saying something blows isn't an opinion. An opinion is more along the lines of &quot;I do or don't like this because of this reason&quot;. Like Guardian said - we don't go around bashing the music you like - I don't because I like to be the better man, I'm above that. But sheer ignorance isn't something I tolerate - plain and simple. And if you display such ignorance, I'm gonna give you my opinion on ignorant bastards.
 
Well, I DO like rap and hip hop.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest that other people do not. It doesn't bother me even if they never heard rap and still put it down.

Music is personal taste.

Rap or hip hop doesn't need any defense. Either you like it or you don't. And if you never listened to it while still putting it down, it's your loss.
 
See, appopin, for someone like me it's different. Hip Hop for me isn't just music, it's my culture. It's a part of my everyday life. It's like putting someones religion down, it's something I take pride in and when people judge it unfairly, it really ticks me off because I give these people the dignity of not being judged. I don't hate any type of music, and I don't dislike anything I've never heard - but some morons love to just say something sucks and they don't know jack about it. But in the end I'm the better person for not sinking to their level is how I see it.

You might be too sensitive. Learn to live with criticism - unfounded or not.
 
In my eyes, saying something sucks is different from saying &quot;I dislike it&quot;. I don't think anything sucks as far as music goes, it's just that other genres don't do much for me. I don't tell anyone I hate their music, cause I don't. And as far as the Teeny Boppers go - I don't pay them much attention, there's a new wave of em every generation 🙂

And koni, I'm comparing it to a way of life, I just used an example. Because for me, it's an influence on my everyday life (Hip Hop).

Well genocide, you are defending something that needs no defense. You religion doesn't need to be defended from ignorant comments, does it?

If you take everything so personal, you are bound to just be ineffectually angry. You will never change the opinion of people who have made up their mind to dislike something they won't listen to.

And the majority of people have made up their mind that &quot;rap sucks&quot;. Personally, I think in about 20 years or so, it will be played in the elevators and dentist's offices and there will be new music to hate.

In a sense, yes - but the attitude of the individual is different. Saying it sucks is more of a closeminded, ignorant suggestion. Saying &quot;I just don't like it&quot; is saying it in a was as to not be a dick about it - ya know?

appopin - you're right, I just hear it so much. I just can't get used to it. I'm better off just ignoring them though, you're right.
 
Yes, but as apoppin said, you're just wasting steam to get mad at every person who doesn't like the things you like. You're not going to change their minds any more than someone is going to change Russ' mind about Liberals.

I think you're using the word 'ignornace' wrongly here. Just because he says &quot;rap blows&quot; doesn't mean he's ignorant about it. Maybe he's heard every rap 'song' (I hate using that word here) ever created...you don't know.
 
To those who are arguing against rap, may I ask what kind of music YOU listen to?

Well it BLOWS. It doesn't matter that you haven't responded yet, or even if I've probably never heard of it, it sucks.
