Emigrant Direct Savings bumped to 3.25%

wow, thanks. I was holding off Emigrant because I personally love ING Direct, but the interest rate is too good to pass up especially since they are also a local bank since I am in NYC

Thanks OP

i'm guessing this is similar to INGDirect. i was wondering if anyone had a good comparison between the two. i've been a loyal INGDirect customer and the only thing i'm not satisfied with is the transfer time. to transfer money into and out of INGDirect takes about a week in each direction.

//krunk (^_^x)

I just saw this in my e-mail. Talk about an amazing rate. Lets hope they keep jacking them up like INGDirect has been!

BTW has anyone recieved the mailer from them after opening an account?

I cannot login to my account w/o it.

I am thinking about opening a savings account. I also came across emigrant. But I was looking at INGDirect longer and noticed that a lot of people uses INGDirect. Anyone have any experience with Emigrant and their services?

Did the application process about 2 weeks ago. Still waiting for the confirmation deposit to take place. My friend also said they're opening process is quite slow and their customer service isn't as good as ING's. Guess I should call them soon.

How fast do transfers accur between the ING account (or the Emigrant account) and another savings account. In ohter words how fast could I get to my money if I needed it.

anyone who signed up got any information in the US Mail from them yet?

It seems to be taking a VERY long time for them to mail me my info!!

It takes me 3 business days to transfer money from ING to my checking account (B of A). If they recently bumped it up, others (including ING) are soon to follow. There's going to be another .25% intrest rate hike tomorrow morning (Tuesday)

I have ING, Emigrant, and for my checking I have Presidential (3% on checking up to $25K).
I dont notice any big diff between Emigrant and ING. ING's website is pretty smooth and I've been with them for years....only had Emigrant for last 3 or 4 months. Both have 5 day holds on what you xfr in. Both take about 2 days to effect xfrs.

Presidential checking is totally sweet though .... I keep most my dough in Presidential just sittin in the checking account. There is a minimum and you need at least a $200 a month direct deposit for it to be free (I think you can just automatically xfr $200 per month from ING to Presidential ...they said on the phone that would work though I have real direct deposit)

I use both ING and Emigrants Direct. I just signed up for emigrants direct. If you haven't recieved your member number in the mail they are taking a long time. If you call them they will tell you the first half over the phone and will email you the rest. I had some problems getting my user name established, but i called them back and they "activated my account." I only have ten dollars in there right now, and have no recieved any interest.

If you have 500 dollars I would say it isn't worth it to switch from ING. I like ING's website a lot more. I don't know anything yet about transfer times. Emigrants seems very bare boned website.

Even if you have 10,000 dollars invested it is only a 65 dollar difference in interest per year. Yes, I know "only" but that is in reference to 10,000 capital.

So far I am much more pleased with ING, but I have only been a member of Emigrants for a week or two.

Hope this helps someone.
