What are the chances of having Data corruption due to EMI? I have had a bad situation going on with having to run my SCSI ARRAY from an external case using internal cables until the SCSI external adaptors I ordered weeks ago arrive. The way I have it setup right now is with an individual cable to each drive, run thru the openins in the rear of the external enclosure, to the workstation which is open cased and the cables running to each internal channel connection, due to the impossibility of using the external cables until the external case adaptors arrive. Since setting up this way, I have suffered several severe data loss episodes, losing crucial dll files and rendering the OS unbootable and requiring reformat and reinstall.. This is a Stripe Only raid controller so no data redundancy possible. Its only for a system performance, and I keep next to nothing very important but my email on the system, so its mainly a large inconvenience than tragic. However the inconvenience is becoming more and more recurring.
Is this a possible EMI issue, or is it more likely that I have a problem with a bad cable? I have run Seagates drive utilities over and over on the drives in the array from a separate cable using another controller and the drives themselves test out perfect each time.
