That Throwdown show ... ugh, what makes him think he's good enough to take on most of these people? It's great to watch him get owned though, except that he hardly ever comes up with the recipes.

I disagree. I LOVE throwdown and it's great. When he loses, it's mad props to the winners. When he wins, it's still mad props to the losers.

IMHO it's all about who he has as judges: if they're going for traditional, Bobby flay loses. If they go for modern, he wins.

That said, it's good publicity for WHOEVER is on that show. But fuck, if I were BF, whatever Throwdown I win I'd put it on the menu ASAP. Hell, he should start a restaurant called THROWDOWN and only put winning recipes on the menu lol

100% Agree!!! These shows are worthless. They don't teach you how too cook. Why? Because you have to pay extra for that. Money is ruining TV just like the movie and music industry. Just inflation and greed.

Money has become the new crack addiction. Do anything and everything to get it. Yet no one gives a shit . " It's all Enrons fault."

errr most of the shows dont teach you how to cook, they are ABOUT food. thats why its called FOODTV and not COOKING 101

That's like saying the Internet is not for entertainment but for information purposes only.

Well, you can always go on the internet of your favorite food channel show and they'll likely be more in-depth.

So fudge it. Blown argument.

RR is the most annoying personality on the Food Network IMO (only slighly more annoying that Sandra Lee and Bobby Flay). Alton Brown rocks with Giada deLorentis and Guy Fieri in tied in second place. Dinner Impossible is also a really good show to watch. I really though that John should have won the Next Iron Chef competition, but, aparently the audience doesn't matter.

I have cooked many of Giada, Alton, and Guy's recipies and they usually turn out very good!

WTF

who the fuck was he battling? btw, anybody know which iron chef is leaving?

//edit HAHAHA oh n/m that makes sense. I thought HE was battling one of the old iron chefs hahaha.

I think "the next iron chef" would've been so much more gangster if they did it "ninja warrior" style: ie no new iron chef until they beat a previous iron chef

He battled a guy named Ricky Moore from DC and beat him pretty soundly. Not sure if anyone's leaving; didn't they have 4 chefs in the original Japanese show for a while?

Does FN still show the Japanese Iron Chef? That was so much more entertaining than the American version.

Dump-n-stir TV chefs just don't cut it anymore. Emeril was good but his time has come and gone.

Emeril's role has diminished on the network over the years as some new people have risen. Today, there's a lot more fun people to watch, Alton, Robert Irvine, Guy Fiero, Bobby Flay, Giada.

God, I would do just about anything for Giada to be mah woman, she is just awesome.

September 5, 2007 -- Chef Mario Batali has been chopped from TV's Food Network, the influential cooking channel that made him a household name.

Sources said that network executives told the spotlight-loving chef last month his multiple shows, which includes the long-running "Molto Mario," would not be renewed and that he would no longer be competing in the popular "Iron Chef America" series.

"He said that if his shows weren't going to be renewed, then he wasn't going to do 'Iron Chef,' " said a network insider. "And then they essentially said 'ciao.' "

"We do not comment on contractual agreements that Food Network has with talent," said network spokeswoman Lisa Del Colle after numerous calls.

The ubiquitous chef, who runs several Italian-themed restaurants in Manhattan - with recent additions in Los Angeles and Las Vegas - has also made a fortune plugging products ranging from clogs to the NASCAR tailgate-party circuit.

He began with the Food Network in 1996 after opening Po and two years before opening Babbo with business partner Joseph Bastianich.

"Having a show on the Food Network is like gold," said one industry analyst. In 2005, Batali received a $1 million advance for his book, "Molto Italiano."
