I have created an "auto-run" CD for work that contains both PDF files and Windows Media Video. Click on PDF link and your current installed Acrobat Reader opens (this part is cool and needs no changes), click on the media link and your current installed media player opens and plays the video. (there are so many different dammed versions of media players) that 'd like to just put one on the cd that needs no installation. Just click the link, media player open and plays the media.

It would have to be freeware (or cheap) and legal to distribute on our CD's

Any idea's? suggestions??

try media player classic. i'm not sure if it can play wmv files though. its on sourceforge.net.

edit: you'll have to set it to be the default media viewer for wmv files though. that's something that windows controls. it controls the auto run feature too.

so if you want to do what you just said you'll have to either set the exe to be the default viewer, or drag and drop the wmv file on to the exe and it'll open.

MP Classic should play WMV files just fine (great choice by the way). I always just set it as the default WMV player over the Windows media player.
