i have a cheap phone that can recieve txt messages but not utilize verizons web access so i cannot get emails sent to my phone. i heard of some providers which will redirct emails to you as txt messages...

anyone know of any or of any other methods for me to get emails?

thanks

With many providers you can send SMS to phones using an e-mail address which is usually something like <number>@<provider>.com
Check with your provider.

While we're on this subject, does anyone know how my friend in Japan can send me a text message directly to my phone? I can get messages. Does she have to use the entire phone number (Including country code)???

And she can email directly from her phone. Can she just email me that way? (The problem is, I've been unable to find out how to do this for Cingular phones. I tried my phone number@cingular.com, and that doesn't work.)

Anyone know?

Jzero, i talked to my provider already and they told me that the service which you described is only available for certain models of phones, my phone model is not supported. they suggested finding a third party provider which will convert email sent to <my phone #>@<3rd party provider>.com to sms txt messages.
