relative called on thursday 03/04 with concerns of possible infection, i advised to run a scan in safemode, in the meantime i recieved an email from him on sat 03/06 with only a link to this site,

http://udalow.gmxhome.de/tOdIwVSOLI.htm,

i have not opened the link, called to him this morning and verified he did not send the email so i instructed him to unplug from the internet and do a full system scan, apparently his pc is sending emails to anyony in his contact book, scanned my pc with mse and came up clean, should i report the site ? can anyone check the site, how concerned should i be.

It's just spam. It may very well not even be on relative's machine. The address was probably spoofed.

Edit:
Thinking about it, I guess something did farm his contact list. I'd scan with a good A/V, and Malwarebytes. The link was just typical Canadian pharmaceutical spam though.

when he gets in from work ill have him download some applications to try a clean up, apparently he had problems connecting to the internet and had to call mediacom to fix some problem on his pc, i had him install mse in oct 2009, he said it was up to date and a full safe mode scan returned no problems.

thanks for checking the link.

My email was hacked or accessed in the middle of night three days ago (Yahoo email) and it sent messages with links like that to everyone in my address book. I noticed it because several of the address were old and I started receiving delivery failure notices.

This happened to my wife last nite and I came here wanted to ask about it. Email with a link to viagra, etc, was sent out to everyone in her address book.

We already changed her Yahoo password. Does this mean that someone had the password to the account? I didn't think this was a virus on the PC, as all her mail is web-based. All of the emails were in her Sent Mail, so I'm assuming someone did this via the web?

I don't think it was virus related. I think someone found a loophole or vulnerability with Yahoo. Yahoo sent me a message several days later saying they believed my account was accessed and made me change my password again.

This has happened to me twice in the past few weeks now...I'm looking into it...someone please post if they find a fix.
