Email syncronisation

I have setup up a network using a wireless gateway, however, i was wondering how you cou;d setup an email system do that both computers received the same mail, so that if i received a mail ono my laptop, i could look at the same email on my desktop.

You could tell your email clients to leave a copy of the email on the email server. Or just use gmail or any other online email provider.

but surely if i tell the client toleave a copy on the server then it will just dowload the copy

well I know that outlook gives you that option where it will just make a copy of the email and leave a copy on the server.

I use microsoft outlook 2003, and i have a POP3 mail account

keitro, if i did that it would be very difficult as i have numerous computer linmked up to my computer

In Outlook you go to Email accounts.

You choose the account and click on change.

In change you click on more settings.

In more settings you choose the advanced tab.

You check the: Leave copies of the mess??..

You Uncheck: the Remove from e server?.

You check: Remove from server when deleted????


You need a functional Outlook program on each computer that you want to use the email from, and you set it the same way.

You could also store the pst file to one computer and share the folder, use windows offline files to access it on the other end. the only issue with this is that you would need to synch up to the other pc regularly.

One thing to remember is that if you leave the mail on the server it will quickly fill up your inbox.

Many POP3 accounts have limited space and a few attachments can quickly eat away your available space.
