Email spiders

How much of a danger are these things? For instance, what are your odds of getting spam if your e-mail is on a

1) forum profile that isn't private.
2) forum post
3) pdf of your resume hosted on your website
4) pdf of your resume hosted a university webpage

and so on.

Are e-mail spiders a real danger?

Don't know, not willing to find out. Why would you have your email visible anyway? All you have to do is lean toward one side just slightly in an intel vs. amd or nvidia vs. ati flamewar for some stupid kid to sign you up for the NAMBLA mailing list and such. PMs ftw.

I'm in an arguement with somebody that is telling me the risk in minimal or nonexistant. I am very protective of my emails. So the arguement isn' t about me. It's purely academic.

Yeah I get 4 pages of crap a day now on my main Email account, probably because some stupid kid thought he was weelly u63r 5m4rt by doing this. And yes I have initiated the flame wars before...lol Whatever, that's what multiple accounts are for.
