I email subscribe to a lot of threads and check them from the road (Treo600 with an IMAP client). Currently all thread titles are prefaced with "AnandTech subscription update - " which leaves one character on my screen for the actual thread title. Would it be possible (and do others have an opinion pro/con on the idea of) shortening that preface text to something like ATSU:<thread title>

Second, any chance we can get a reply to thread from email at some point. While I have a web browser on the phone, actually accessing the forums remotely is so unusable as to not be worth trying.

Comments, thoughts?

I would prefer to see shorter Subject names as well, but I think this has been requested before without any change. In regards to the second change, you should post that over on the fusetalk site, since it is going to be an enhancement to the product.
 
The first request makes a lot of sense to me. Seems like a more polite way to do things too.

The second I think I has been mentioned before, and I don't care either way. 😛
 
It would also be nice if the link in the notification emails took you to the actual post. Currently, if the thread is multiple pages long, the link takes you to the first page!
 
As for the changing of the subscription emails that is fully customizable, however I disagree that it makes sense to go with the suggested title change. Most users wont have a clue what ATSU is...entirely too ambiguous. And wouldnt what fits on your screen be different than someone elses...

It can be changed but I don't think ATSU will work, other suggestions maybe..
 
I really like the idea of shortening the name of the subject. I'm going to be in the same boat as the OP since I'll be checking subscription with my Dell Axim remotely now. What about AT Subscription Update:? Shortens it by about 7 characters but still has an understandable, meaningful name.

The reply via email would also be a great feature to implement.
 
There is no implementation required, it just adds a wack of email load to our mail server, not sure if we are interested in doing that at this time.
