i received this email, and i'm sure most of it can be easily explained. anyone want to take a stab? i'll update this post to reflect the rebuttals.

CONFUSING

This was passed to me, but I can't understand it. Maybe you can. I'm trying to get all this political stuff straightened out in my head so I'll know how to vote come November. Right now, we have one guy saying one thing. Then the other guy says something else. Who to believe. Lemme see; have I got this straight?

Clinton awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Yugoslavia - good...
Bush awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Iraq - bad...

Clinton spends 77 billion on war in Serbia - good...
Bush spends 87 billion in Iraq - bad...

Clinton imposes regime change in Serbia - good...
Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...

Clinton bombs Christian Serbs on behalf of Muslim Albanian terrorists- good...
Bush liberates 25 million from a genocidal dictator - bad...

Clinton bombs Chinese embassy - good...
Bush bombs terrorist camps - bad...

Clinton commits felonies while in office - good...
Bush lands on aircraft carrier in jumpsuit - bad...

No mass graves found in Serbia - good...
No WMD found Iraq - bad...

Stock market crashes in 2000 under Clinton - good...
Economy on upswing under Bush - bad...

Clinton refuses to take custody of Bin Laden - good...
World Trade Centers fall under Bush - bad...

Clinton says Saddam has nukes - good...
Bush says Saddam has nukes - bad...

Clinton calls for regime change in Iraq - good...
Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...

Terrorist training in Afghanistan under Clinton - good...
Bush destroys training camps in Afghanistan - bad...

Milosevic not yet convicted - good...
Saddam turned over for trial - bad...

Ahh, it's so confusing!

Another interesting fact: Both George Bush and John Kerry are wealthy men. Bush owns only one home, his ranch in Texas. Kerry owns 4 mansions, all worth several million dollars. (His ski resort home in Idaho is an old barn brought over from Europe in pieces. Not your average A-frame).

Bush paid $250,000 in taxes this year; Kerry paid $90,000. Does that sound right? The man who wants to raise your taxes obviously has figured out a way to avoid paying his own.

Pass this on. Only 43 days until the election.

Well, you could start with "Is Clinton running for president this year? No? Then STFU."

The numbers are misleading, as numbers are easy to skew. I could say "Number of US deaths in Serbia 0 - Number of US deaths in Iraq 1050+".

The rest is just oversimplifying complex issues into good/bad.

the person who wrote that email has a messed up world view if he believes liberals/conservatives see those "Good"s as good. Though I find it funny that out of all that, the only thing that REALLY ruffled conservatives feathers was the whole Monica Lewinsky topic :p

Clinton awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Yugoslavia - good...
Bush awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Iraq - bad...

1992/08: Defense Secretary Cheney gives Halliburton the 5-year exclusive contract with Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP) for all military support work. LOGCAP is "cost plus", meaning their profit goes up the more they spend.
1995: Army uses LOGCAP in the Balkans, spends over $2 billion.
1995/08: Halliburton hires Dick Cheney as CEO.
1997/02: Halliburton loses LOGCAP renewal to Dyncorp for the rest of Clinton's term, except ongoing Balkans work.

Let me ease your confusion:

Clinton awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Yugoslavia - good...
Bush awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Iraq - bad...

-Clinton didn't have a VP who worked for Halliburton

Clinton spends 77 billion on war in Serbia - good...
Bush spends 87 billion in Iraq - bad...

-The war in Iraq is 120 billion. Kerry has been saying 200 billion.

Clinton imposes regime change in Serbia - good...
Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...

-Regime change is good for both, but Bush did so on false pretenses (WMDs that didn't exist)

Clinton bombs Christian Serbs on behalf of Muslim Albanian terrorists- good...
Bush liberates 25 million from a genocidal dictator - bad...

-Both are good but in Serbia we didn't get attacked by the people we saved and we had UN peacekeepers.

Clinton bombs Chinese embassy - good...
Bush bombs terrorist camps - bad...

-Clintons was an accident. Bombing terrorist camps is good. Who said it wasn't?

Clinton commits felonies while in office - good...
Bush lands on aircraft carrier in jumpsuit - bad...

-Clinton was impeached for it. Not Good. Who cares about the jumpsuit.

No mass graves found in Serbia - good...
No WMD found Iraq - bad...

-Yes mass graves were found: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/1414735.stm. No WMDs were found in Iraq.

Stock market crashes in 2000 under Clinton - good...
Economy on upswing under Bush - bad...

-The stock market was bad and no one would disagree with that. Most people know it wasn't Bush's fault. Economist fault him for trying to start the economy with misplaced tax cuts and for his huge spending: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5818277/

Clinton refuses to take custody of Bin Laden - good...
World Trade Centers fall under Bush - bad...

- Both are bad. Clinton didn't yet have a 911 attack to go after Bin Laden.

Clinton says Saddam has nukes - good...
Bush says Saddam has nukes - bad...

-Both are symptoms of bad itelligence. Bush just got blamed for it because he acted on it.

Clinton calls for regime change in Iraq - good...
Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...

-Again here actions are important. Bush acted impatiently.

Terrorist training in Afghanistan under Clinton - good...
Bush destroys training camps in Afghanistan - bad...

-Clinton attacked training camps in Afghanistan after the bombings of our embassies. This wasn't much but again public outcry did not reach the pitch of 911.

Milosevic not yet convicted - good...
Saddam turned over for trial - bad...

-Milosevic not yet convicted is bad, Saddam turned over for trial is good. Who would think otherwise?

It looks like somone posted a resposne to this one. Assuming it's true: neither are good. Nobody says it's okay that Clinton did that if he did. Both are bad. Of course Kerry is running, not Clinton.

Clinton spends 77 billion on war in Serbia - good...
Bush spends 87 billion in Iraq - bad...
I imagine these numbers are wildly exagerated. Somebody could refute them I'm sure. Keep in mind that Kerry says Bush has spent 200 (it's over too, but the real number is still well over 100 bil). But again, even if the numbers are correct, the main problem is that Bush spent money on a bogus war. And that he cut taxes to the rich and got us deeper into debt while doing it. Nobody is mad we spend money in WWII because the rich were taxed at 93% and it was necessary. This war wasn't necessary and the rich aren't paying their share.

Clinton imposes regime change in Serbia - good...
Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...
Nobody has a problem with regime change in Iraq by itself. The problem again is the false pretenses and the attempts by the administration to act like that was their goal when in fact they had supported Saddam and similar tyrants for decades before. It's misleading.

Clinton bombs Christian Serbs on behalf of Muslim Albanian terrorists- good...
Bush liberates 25 million from a genocidal dictator - bad...
Muslim Albanian terrorists? That is completely unsubstantiated. And apparently there were some that came from without. But still Clinton didn't do it for them. He did it for the people who were getting ethnicallly cleansed. He also did it because it risked destabilizing Europe and we are part of Nato.
Again, Bush liberating people is not bad, it's all the things and lies that go around with it.

Clinton bombs Chinese embassy - good...
Bush bombs terrorist camps - bad...
Ridiculous. By now you should be aware this is completely bogus. The China embassy was an accident and Clinton bombed terrorist camps too.

Clinton commits felonies while in office - good...
Bush lands on aircraft carrier in jumpsuit - bad...
Clinton's lies were about a trivial matter. Bush's lies cost tens of thousands of lies. Also, the two things aren't really comparable.

No mass graves found in Serbia - good...
No WMD found Iraq - bad...
Again, I am not sure no mass graves were found in Serbia. If they weren't, the war was still justified by the elements mentioned above.

Stock market crashes in 2000 under Clinton - good...
Economy on upswing under Bush - bad...
Bill Clinton gave us 8 years of prosperity and relative peace. Bush has given us four years of suckiness that still hasn't caught up to Clinton's glory years. And the job situation is even worse.

Clinton refuses to take custody of Bin Laden - good...
World Trade Centers fall under Bush - bad...
Both are bad. Except Clinton actually paid attention to terrorism.

Clinton says Saddam has nukes - good...
Bush says Saddam has nukes - bad...
Clinton said Saddam had nukes?

Clinton calls for regime change in Iraq - good...
Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...

Clinton didn't lead a disastrous war and alienate the entire world in his call.

Terrorist training in Afghanistan under Clinton - good...
Bush destroys training camps in Afghanistan - bad...
Ridiculous. Terrorists trained in Afghanistan during Bush's watch too. While he was golfing.

Milosevic not yet convicted - good...
Saddam turned over for trial - bad...
Not a fair comparison.
Milosevic turned over for trial... good
Saddam turned over for tiral... good

What's more interesting is that Kerry votes against his self-interest (in a way) by voting for higher taxes. He's into helping. Bush wants to keep it for himself. How can you reproach Kerry?

Naw, what ruffled our feathers was the total lack of character.

End Quote

Clinton had the attack on the Cole, Nairobi and Darr. All three were American soil by international treaty. He did little or nothing, making the enemy see us as weak with no will to fight. That gave them the courage to do 911. They got the nasty attitude from Clintons about face with Yasser when he discovered Hilary needed the Jewish vote to get elected. See, it does all tie together! Unfortunately, Clinton's legacy of making peace in the middle east just didn't work out.

the main problem is that Bush spent money on a bogus war.

i fail to understand how it was a bogus war when everyone of us reap its benefits.

it was an oil war...iraq has approx. 115 billion barrels worth of oil...second most in the world.

of course china, france, germany, japan and most of the world's countries are going to oppose us. not because they give half a sh!t about iraqi people. not because they're more civil and less corrupt than us. but because they want the oil.

i say all of this...while hating bush and wishing him a warm and comfy spot in hell.

Good post I hated clinton almost as much as Bush for the reasons taked about here. Only thing holding me twards Clinton a bit, is not calling in the national guard to count the florida votes and bypass supreme court entirely. Watch out for that this time. Bush is teh eval statist.

These three are just BS partisan stuff

Stock market crashes in 2000 under Clinton - good...
Economy on upswing under Bush - bad...

Clinton refuses to take custody of Bin Laden - good...
World Trade Centers fall under Bush - bad...

Terrorist training in Afghanistan under Clinton - good...
Bush destroys training camps in Afghanistan - bad...

Kennedy and Roosevelt are dead. Today Democratic Party = Clinton.

Kennedy's party was vastly different from the Democratic party of today. When has a Dim lately said "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. I was a Democrat back then and proud of it. I had to leave when Clinton was elected the second time.

Yeah I was thinking of this post and how the OP just "cut and ran."

I think *crickets* is in order.

Basically it was FUD and trolling.
