email blacklist?

So my dad has been bugging me close to everyday about his emails being bounced back because he has been listed on some kind of email blacklist (so says the rejected emails). Does anybody know why he is on this list in the first place? and how he can get off of it? and also how he can prevent it from happening again? Thanks in advance.

Someone probably used his email eddy to spam and it got blacklisted. Just call your ISP to get it worked out.
 
IS it to only one domain name? Is this a company email account? The reason I asked is if your email server isn't setup correctly...and it's used as relay server for spam mail, the whole domain name will be placed in the blacklist and you have to apply to have it taken off.

If it's just one particular email/domain name...chances are the host is blocking email from your particular domain name.
 
if his email server was hosting a spammer, then the ip of the server got blacklisted and caused all other emails on the server to be blacklisted as well.

Happened on our website. Some other a-hole getting hosted started spamming and got blacklisted, causing us to become blacklisted as well.

I think this is what happened... my pops only uses email to do business with other customers... anyhow.. he is using road runner... and his email and space provider is dreamhost....
