Email app: Outlook vs Outlook Express

My cable company states that it does not provide "support" for email problems encountered using its cable modem and MS Outlook. However, it does provide support for email problems if I use Outlook Express. Is Outlook not the most widely used email app in the US? If not does anyone want to guess at the percent use of Outlook vs Outlook Express?

Outlook Express is free, and it's about as abundant as Internet Explorer..whereas Outlook costs major money. 😕
