Are email addresses that contain + sign valid?

Example: i+roast@anandtech.edu

I dont believe its technically valid... but the server can process the email. Google does it with all of their email. If you have an address iroast@gmail.com and do something like iroast+spam@gmail.com, you'll still get the email and be able to apply a label to it.

yes, but for a very specific purpose.

Some MTA's can be configured to filter into folders or perform actions on emails based on the text after the +

IE:

example+lists@anandtech.edu
example+work@anandtech.edu

Would both go to the example user
