This PC asks for a DDR 2100 but I would like to run it with DDR 2700. im going for 512 to a full 2 GB. I know where to buy it and I am getting a new case with better cooling, but will my motherboard be able to handle the upgrade of this PC from 2100 to 2700??? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!!!

If the pc is asking for 2100, then any memory you put in will only work at 2100.

Also, careful here, cos some older systems have compatibility probs with certain speed RAM chips - ie mixing pc2100 & pc2700!
Some do not have problems!!
Also, ir if is asking for pc2100, it may not be able to handle 2GB RAM.

Welcome to the Forums :) I did a lookup on your system at eMachines' parts depot and it appears that the motherboard only has two slots for memory modules.

1) Can you do a quick reality check and confirm that it has two slots, not four?

2) Does it have an AGP video-card slot (typically a sort of rust-brown color)? Because I'm trying to think what you would want 2GB of RAM for, and the usual answer is "Games! :D" and if you're stuck with onboard video, you probably want to upgrade the system so you can include a good 3D accelerator.

yes it has 2 and i am getting 2 gigs because getting just one is actually a rip off. i do alot of video editing programs, music editing, and picture editing.

any suggestions? i would like to purchase today if this is possible. The specs DO say it can handle up to 2 gigs but I need to know if 2700 will work with my emachine T2484.

If PC2700 works, it will run at PC2100 speed like montag151 said. If you want to buy some, then grab two 1GB unbuffered modules and give it a try. Is there a future upgrade in your plans, is that why you want to buy PC2700 rather than PC2100?
