What are your opinions on this notebook? The price is very good for what it offers (~$1200 for 15.4" widescreen, 512mb ram, 40gb hard drive, dvd/cd-rw) but I am concerned about both the quality and the battery life -- especially the former. Please advise.

i would like to know too, but im pretty sure the only way to accurately find out is to have some review site review it...or have somebody actually buy it and check it out. soo... who's up for it??

From the picture on the eMachines website, it kinda looks like the case is the same one used on the VPR Matrix. I'm not sure for sure, it just looks like it.

I bought this over the weekend. Pretty sweet little machine. It's 7.5lbs with the battery, which lasts between 3hrs to 3hrs 30 mins. I formatted and installed winxp pro without a hitch(CD with drivers came with it). It comes with 512 pc2100 ddr and there seems to be only one ram slot. Windows performance is pretty smooth and I haven't crashed once. The 15.4" widescreen looks pretty good watching dvds with it. Max Res is 1280x800 i think btw.

The build feels sturdy for me and the design is very easy on the eyes. In fact, the reason I noticed it at circuit city was the pretty blue led lights that was blinking at me.

This isn't a gaming machine(got 1550 on 3dmark2001SE hehe) but I have my desktop for that if I wanted to play games.
