emachines e642g driver issue

reinstalled win7 and ATI driver from manufacturers website for VGA don't work

drivers from amd don't work

emachine auto updater didn't work

stuck with standard vga adapter

anyone know what driver to use or where to get some

Notebooks often do not use standard drivers. Have you checked for specific drivers from Gateway? They own rMachines. Did it come with a restore disk?

doesn't work, surprise surprise

No I don't have a restore disk, I have some sort of modded driver working atm but I would much rather the real one.

also Alt-F10 doesn't work

anyone know where to find it.

I have unhidden the recovery partion but I can find the drivers in any of the .wim files 🙁

I gave up

I marked the restore petition unhidden and active

I am now restoring

so much for having a clean install with out factory bloatedcrapware

I notice there are VBIOS fixes in several BIOS updates for E642.

yea I noticed that too

however I have returned the laptop as he was happy with a factory restore

next time I will make a driver recovery disk and check out his bios

Bummer, we could have gotten the right driver by the hardware PCI ID of the display adapter (found in Device Properties).
