Emachine power failure?

Dawning

I have a power supply failure on a monster 500. Its a 120watt (small stuff), have checked for Elecom Corp oem, no luck. Have checked with Emachine for replacement. You guessed it no longer available. Anybody got some ideas?

Hmm, I know that they use VERY small power supplies. Hmm, try at the FS/T forum, someone has to have one there 🙂

I know that it's the standard plug size, worse comes to worse, you duct tape the new power supply on top of the emachine and run the wires down inside.

I just ordered one for my internet rig Here on Friday, it's the same size as the propritery E-machines PSU, yet it's 145 Watts.

Might as well get a new case with PSU. Those PSU on the flea-machines are impossible to remove.

Huh?? I've removed a few and they were all cake.

Try to find a MicroATX PSU... if the wattage is a bit more, don't worry about it. Just make sure (I ran into this a couple weeks ago) that the leads that go to the mobo are on the same side as the one you have.

There are 2 different MicroATX supplies, and the wrong one will be a pain in the arse to put in.

Go to a local comp store (may cost a bit more) and take the PSU with you. (NOTE: CompUSA or Best Buy don't count.)

Thanks to all,
Have found the little PSU thanks to Conlon. Nice going all.
Just shows the net is the way to shop.

The one I had trouble taking it out was all screwed into the case with the weird @$$ screws. I just smacked the crap out of it and called quit. I can' remember what exactly the model was, but it was a 145W PSU.

Anyway, I don't think a lot of people from AT buy from them. 🙂

"propritery E-machines PSU" Since when did MicroATX become proprietary?

If Emachines had spent the extra $0.50 for supplys and modems that dont explode thay would have a great market rep.

At least you know what will go wrong with it when you buy one

i have one of those small HEC-145FC power supplies as linked by conlan. i have just one problem with them and that is as long as it's plugged into the wall, it will emit a very very high pitched tone. It's not all that loud but it's very annoying. I don't know if that's just mine or what..
well.. just a heads-up

Apache, I have the same noise. It didn't happen at first, but it started after a few months of use. It's no big deal -- I just flip the switch on the surge protector after I turn off the computer.

Gunbuster..... in proprietary i meant e-Machine size, of which i've never seen another MATX PSU the same size as the e-Machine PSU.

Patchy,PaveLow.... it can't be as bad as the original is it?? that one was awful.
