When did Elton John advertise it? The poor guy was hounded by the press about his sexuality until he was forced to admit he was gay.

Homophobes are funny. They get pissed when someone tells them they are gay, and accuse them of advertising for attention. Then they get pissed when their friends are gay, but keep it from them. Take your pick, do you want them in the closet, or out?

Michael Stipe (REM) got the same bs, i mean how long do you expect someone to hear gay jokes before they just come out? The media are the ones who invade these peoples lives. Whats the difference from the people listed above and Elton John? He actually has talent hidden behind his image.

Thats what both Elton and Eminem said - Eminem wanted to say "Hey - I just write this stuff.. it's not always what I believe" (etc). Elton wanted to say "I have talent. He has talent. I'm gay. He's not. No biggie."
