Musk has used Hyperloop to effectively kill multiple mass transit projects around the US. He goes, in, promises the world, and the more mundane projects that would have actually worked lose the bidding process. Musk's companies then don't live up to their part of the bargain, because they never could, and nothing ends up getting done. This is one example from Chicago:

Musk tried to sell the city on technology that didn’t exist and disparaged the very concept of public transit; his proposal was never built.

That was one of several incidents that helped urban planners and transportation professionals understand that Musk held few compunctions about lying and lacked regard for the public services that make our society function.

While Musk’s Boring Company promised multiple cities it could solve congestion, so far it has built very little, with the exception of some tunnels in Las Vegas where cars can drive at a few dozen miles per hour from one parking-garage-like structure to another.

Things are looking up for the Cybertruck, it's going to get a DOD contract!!

Well, sort of...if you consider the Air Force buying 2...for target practice :tearsofjoy: a contract.

In the document, they had to explain the reason behind requesting a vehicle from a specific brand. They wrote:

[Redacted] intends to use specific Tesla manufactured vehicles for target vehicle training flight test events. In the operating theatre it is likely the type of vehicles used by the enemy may transition to Tesla Cyber trucks as they have been found not to receive the normal extent of damage expected upon major impact. Testing needs to mirror real world situations. The intent of the training is to prep the units for operations by simulating scenarios as closely as possible to the real world situations.
It sounds like the justification is that the US military believes that its enemies might start using the Tesla Cybertruck, and it wants to make sure its weapons work on it.

On my frequent drives throughout the island of O'ahu, I've yet to see a Cybertruck. I hope to see one and give them the 'ol Muskian "From my Nazi heart and soul I bless you with this stiff armed jutted chin slitted eyes salutation from Hitler's Hidden Crypt."

I've seen way more than I'd like to around here, things are ugly as shit. Most of the ones I've seen are wrapped which actually makes them look a bit better, but you can't get around the stupid giant box shape that looks like a 5 year old's drawing of a gi joe vehicle or something.

what a stupid reason to de-activate a car in the middle of a highway

~Just Tesla deactivating a Cybertruck in the middle of a freeway because the owner used HIS vehicle in a music video.

Pretty sure that was all faked. Have to go find the info on it now.

EDIT:

That viral video of a 'deactivated' Tesla Cybertruck is a fake

I saw them all over the place when I was there for a week in December. And I was all over the island from Waikiki to Haleiwa to Kaneohe.

Looks like I don't go holo holo enough to get to see them, mostly because I hate going into town putting up with traffic jams and rude drivers. I can't remember when the last time I took a circle island ride around O'ahu. Even though I grew up in the outskirts of downtown Honolulu, once I moved out to a more rural locale, going back into town is now much like going in there to get a colonoscopy flush-n-ream job. I see quite a few Swasticars though.

Tesla offering Musk a $1 trillion package if he can meet certain growth milestones. It looks like a package completely divorced from reality and actual asset/intellectual property that Tesla controls and can deliver upon.

This all seems very silly as if it’s predicated on milestones they have almost no chance of meeting then it’s all basically fake anyway, no?

Tesla seems to have a ton of headwinds right now. Robust competition, aging car models, and a toxic brand. I’m no business expert but that does not seem like a recipe for the kind of growth needed to meet those milestones.

The only way forward I see for Tesla is without elmo at the helm.
