I don't know why you're so married to the "national divorce" idea. Have you looked at state level vote totals? There are large pockets of Republicans in "blue" states and vice versa for Democrats in "red" states. It's really the height of privilege to advocate for such a solution that will leave millions behind to suffer when you live in New York City. It's also just so nihilistic - subscribing to a false notion that things will never get better. I can tell you, that is only true if you're a quitter.
