I finally had to create a separate thread. Trump/Musk hires a racist to work on DOGE.

Press discovers his racist tweets and he resigns

JD Vance now wants to bring him back blaming the press. Vance also said the following...

We shouldn’t reward journalists who try to destroy people. Ever. So I say bring him back,” Vance wrote on X. “If he’s a bad dude or a terrible member of the team, fire him for that.”

Wait a second, didn't we just discover he IS a "bad dude"? Clearly being a racist is not considered bad by conservatives.

But I'll let the likes of @pcgeek11 tell us white Republicans are not the main culprits of racism in this country. The Vice President of the United States just expressly ENDORSED racism.

PS - Musk also hired someone to work on DOGE who was fired from a previous job for divulging information to a competitor.

Listening to Kara Swisher analyze Musk and other big tech bozos or Bezos! on Ezra Klein’s podcast. They are awesome together!

So who else here didn’t have the right wing radicalization of tech on their bingo card? I really didn’t.

Swisher has been on the same page for years now. At least since he called that guy a pedophile during the Thailand cave rescue thing.

She is awesome, btw.

Neal Stephenson called it back in 2002 with his Cryptonomicon novel. The tech bros were presented with more libertarian than fascist leanings but very similar to what has happened.

There is another novel from that time frame - Jennifer Government - that tells the story of a dystopian world that has an insane, corporate/libertarian bend to it. In short, the government has been starved of nearly all resources, and corporations have an extreme level of control over society and employees. Seems like the current crop of million and billionaires would have fit right in with that novel.

Neo-feudalism.

They want to run their own city-states and the serfs can be paid with company scip - which will of course be the cryptocurrencies they own and operate.

1999 not 2002.

Stephenson is interesting. Cryptonomicon was definitely pro libertarian but his earlier cyberpunk novel Snowcrash really showed the idiocy of a “country “ run by corporations.

That’s EXACTLY what they are doing. Most of us predicted a while ago

All self worth is measured in money. When you're rich ego goes straight to your head. Our whole society worships the same God. The only variation is in who gets rich.
