it's obstruction on both sides. the chief characterization of this past Senate term has been Reid pocket vetoing any bill for fear that Democrats might alienate voters by actually, you know, voting on things.

the leadership on both sides needs to be thrown out of the leadership, if not out of office entirely, for the current state of dysfunction.

Puh-leeze. Which right wing rag did that characterization come from?

Repubs attempted to prevent legitimate Senate business with a barrage of hopeless bills & frivolous amendments designed to cripple programs, not implement them. McConnell's filibuster of his own bill minutes after introducing it is illustrative.

Repubs told us they wanted Obama to fail, told us they intended to obstruct & now that they have you want to pretend it never happened, that it was Reid's fault.

You know Warren more than you think.
She had a lot to do with banking reform.
Some she got thru, some not.
She is hated by the banks and financial institutions because she works hard to hold them accountable. And banks do mot take kindly to accountability.
If you live in the middle class, and make under $100 thou a year, you should love Elizabeth Warren.
If you actually enjoyed the 2008 GW Bush economic meltdown, tax payer bailout, housing fraud and scandal, you probably hate her.

Has RICK PERRY killed you with teh Ebolas yet?

Anyone who thinks she's going to put Joe and Jane Ordinary before party or career is likely going to be disappointed, but what the heck, give her a shot and see what happens.

I really don't think the typical go-to ploy of the Repubs to trash the opposition down to their level of "politicking" is going to work with Warren. She has too much esteem and proven raw, honest dedication toward shielding ALL members of the middle class and the poor from the predatory practices of the elite few that for the most part dwell in the hallowed halls of the RNC Board of Directors.

Dragging Warren into the gutters where the Repubs feel so at home to fight their battles is just not going to get the kind of traction that was so successfully used against other Dems that didn't have the street creds that Warren has.

so the left losing on the liberalism, goes more left.
The left did not lose on liberalism, considering that the D candidates who ran away from Obama lost, while those who embraced him won.
Also, almost every liberal ballot measure passed in every state.

Someone who feels the need to lie about even the most basic facts is not someone that should be supported. Typical leftist scum, another pelosi in the making.

An interesting perspective. You mention Obama and liberalism, linking him to it through candidate victories, but it seems to me he's more interested in his own agenda which often seems very much at odds with liberals, at least those of old. The NSA, his penchant for military adventures even if smaller in scale than Bush, his embracing and expansion of domestic spying, etc must have them rolling in their graves.

Best post of the thread award goes to....

not overly surprised as she is a rising star in the democratic party and somewhat favorable with the public given the emphasis by her party and the media on her work with banking and finance

However as someone from the state which she represents I am disheartened as here we have another limo liberal claiming to represent those which she cannot possibly relate to...someone who touted an overhyped background for personal gain, and who has little experience in the position to which she currently holds.

Its all posturing as they are moving her to a presidential bid and I figure if Hillary implodes this will be their fallback candidate.

Boy, I would be absolutely thrilled if fauxahauntas were to be dem candidate for president. Someone who's a limousine liberal with a proven track record of lying with little or no experience or qualifications might sell well with the hard core idiots / libs, but would be a much weaker candidate on the national scale.

All that and she'd still crush whatever whackjob the repubs / hard core idiots throw up against her.

We don't know who the pubbies will have as the nominee, but I'd be willing to wager that if Warren were the nominee, she'd lose handily.

Yeah? I wouldn't recommend making wagers when you're not paying any attention.

She'd win with a similar margin as the last couple presidential races. History repeats itself over and over. It doesn't matter who the repubs put up, because the country leans left slightly every four years now.

The dems have a good playbook here. Have Liz waiting in the wings in case Hill strokes out. Then it's 'prove you're not sexist, America! Vote for the woman!'.

The 'stupid party' needs to find someone that can speak to the independents while keeping their base energized; something they failed at miserably with Romney.

It's gonna be interesting.

The country has leaned left for the past 6 years.

The 2014 elections indicated that there is concern about how the left is doing things.

Since FDR, there has only been one time that the WH has been held for more than 8 years by the same party.

The party in charge ends up becoming arrogant and/or stupid, upsetting the voters and the pendulum swings the other way.

I wonder if Warren would accept a VP invite from Clinton "if" Clinton throws her hat in.

Then I wonder if she would be a plus or minus for Clinton to have her as a running mate.

I mean, if Sarah Palin can get the nod from the Repubs, then Warren should be a shoo-in like no other.

This country MAY be ready for a female president, but no fucking way would they accept 2 at the head of the country. Way too many openly misogynistic and closeted misogynistic fuckwads to go along with that.

I'm all for it, but I think Warren should be the P and Clinton the VP.

That 30 Rock "Oh no, my period!" thing comes to mind.

So women have hormone stuff happen every month.

Men are doped up on testosterone 24/7, but this fact seems to go unnoticed.

Imagine a nature documentary where you might see some males dueling for power. Mountain goats butting heads, gorillas beating around leafy branches and yelling to make noise, or walruses trying to gore each other.
We are no different. We just have an absolutely enormous variety of tools at our disposal with which to kill or injure one another.

That assertion just keeps the Faithful in the pews. It doesn't fly anywhere outside the right-wing-o-sphere of motivated believing.

Sarah! Sarah! She's one of us!

She sure is, in ways you'll never understand, honey.
