We need wholesale reform of the entire electoral process that we're not likely to get while the GOP controls any part of the government.

Since they are the ones actively attempting to make it even more tilted towards minority rule, no, haha.

Our best bet is probably in states with ballot initiatives although Florida and other states are good indicators as to how committed Republicans are to rigging the vote even in the face of public opposition.

It is very telling though that conservatives constantly talk about the dangers of majority rule but rarely about the dangers of minority rule.

It’s almost as if they don’t actually care about governance dangers and just want to get their way.

And one other thing, we always hear about how America is a ‘center right’ country. If that’s true why can’t the Conservative party seem to win a majority of the votes?

I'm not even sure that's accurate at an issue level given how a lot of ballot questions go even in lean conservative or very conservative states. Liberal policy is broadly popular to varying degrees. The intense tribalism that the GOP has stoked to wildfire proportions overrides a lot of that though.

Oh I don’t think it’s accurate at any level. It’s an attempt to explain away voter suppression as voter preferences.

He lost the popular vote by millions and had a bottom tier EC margin yet it's a great victory in history.

You forget that for some reason votes in California shouldn't count.

Of all the arguments possible ‘Trump would have gotten the most votes if you didn’t count all those millions of people who voted against him’ has to be the dumbest.

Ironically these are the same people who say that you’re making it so rural voters wouldn’t count if we just elected the person the most people wanted to be president.
