Even in her declining years, Erzsebet Bathory was purportedly one of the most beautiful women in Hungary.

The notion that Bathory bathed in blood to maintain her skin tone was possibly rooted in her gruesome torturous practices- she would emerge from her chamber drenched in her victims' blood, as a result from her proceedings.
 
Bathory was a good band/man. Emperor covered some of his songs. Never knew where the name came from... Quite interesting.

Yeah.. Guitar Player magazine some years back did a feature on the 'top 25 metal albums of all time'
Bathory's 1984 self titled album was on the list, as well as some other old school early black metal bands (Venom was included).
