Eli Manning

Argo

Lifer
So after 18 regular season games, what are your thoughts on this guy? He's been pretty solid after the cincinaty game last season. In fact, he has 5 last minute comebacks in the last 12 games. So do you think the trade was worth for the Giants?

i don't like your options.

he is good but i'm still not convinced he was worth what they gave up for him. unfortunately we don't know what rivers is capable of yet and that's really the key point here. not whether or not eli is the real deal but if eli is that much better than rivers.

I still find it funny that New York fans were booing him when the Chargers selected him #1 in the draft, then 30 minutes later were cheering when he was traded to the Giants.

I think in the long run he will be worth the deal. I believe he is already paying dividends for the Giants and that he will be their QB for a long time.

The fans weren't booing him, they were booing the fact that the Chargers selected him.

😕

You are telling me that the New York fans were booing the CHARGERS when they picked Eli #1? After Eli Manning and his dad said "We aren't going to play for San Diego."

You can believe whatever you want, but I would bet the farm that those Giants/Jet fans at the draft were booing Eli and Archie.

Yes, that's my take on it. Most Giants fans thought the Chargers were going to pass on him and the Giants would end up drafting him (it was clear that Oakland was drafting Gallery and Arizona - Fitzerald). When Chargers drafted him a lot of the Giants fans were dissappointed. Well, that's just my take on it after following NY Giants message boards most of preseason.

Still to early to tell. There's no doubt that he can engineer a last minute drive, but the doubt remains why he can't do that during the rest of the game. He looks great at times, but sometimes he makes poor decisions. I hope that changes as he gets more experience, but I think it's still too early to call. He is not a bust, that much is for certain.

It's too early to tell. Eli shows promise but his accuracy falters fairly consistently. I would wait to see how he does once he's used to the type of pressure professional defenses can put on him.

Eli is developing well, but would you rather have Eli than Rivers AND Merriman?? Not to mention the other, smaller things involved in the trade.

You have not only consider Rivers for Eli, but Merriman as well.

That's why I'm asking if it was worth it.

Eli for Rivers + Meriman + Kaeding

Kaeding...hmm...what position lost the Giants the game this week?

Hmm, what position lost the Chargers a playoff game?

merriman already has what, like 7 sacks and kaeding has been great so far..with the exception of the 2 missed fgs sunday. rivers will be in high demand if and when he does leave the chargers..future looks good for san diego..

He was a rookie last year.

Hey, did the Giants make the playoffs last year with Eli, or finish 6-10?

Eli started 7 games last year.

Yea....and he won 1, right? 1-6 is a good record. Much better than how the Chargers did. Good call Eli.
