He just questioned how someone who hurt the team badly last year is now questioning his leadership. That's all. Kudos to him for that. I thought he handled it well.

I agree with this and Tiki has already stated on air that he did that on purpose to light a fire under Eli. *shrugs* Besides I don't see any team problems or "chemistry" issues this season from that. If anything I think it helped Eli.

Geh. I don't think it really affected him much either way with his teammates - but it certainly didn't help him in terms of his perception in the media. Plus, if he's willing to attack (even as a comeback) a former teammate who carried the Giants for years, who is to say he won't do it to a CURRENT teammate down the road?

He's a decent QB who takes too much heat from the media, but he is and always will be a crybaby.
 
Eli is a good QB. He's not great, but at least he's better than more than half the QBs in the league right now, and he should be good enough to keep the Giants in the playoffs just about every year. With the right players around him and a bit of luck, he's definately good enough to pull out a SB win sometime during his career.
 
From a career standpoint, i'd put it like this:

Eli << McNabb < Romo < Palmer ~ Big Ben << Peyton = Favre < Brady

There isn't really much data to rank Romo with, and even if you just look at this season, Big Ben is doing better than he is. Palmer has played on about the same level as Big Ben as well (nearly identical stats) over 4 years.


Then again, I dont think Favre, Brady, and Peyton belong in the same comparison as the rest, since, from a career standpoint, they are way ahead of the pack.

In terms of current performance and future potential, I'd take Palmer over Vince every time.
 
haha you love that Vince Young....no, not like Vince Young's team last year, not at all. First off, Palmer has put up spectacular numbers, Young has not, Secondly, the Titans had BETTER running backs and receivers last year than this year, and while their defense lacked Haynesworth for part of the year, it made up for it with Pacman Jones.
 
Not bad != Good, which is a fact the Post article appears to ignore. Eli Young is not a good quarterback, and he doesn't appear to be in danger of ever becoming a good quarterback. He's not terrible enough that a team will never be able to win with him, but don't give me any crap about how Trent Dilfer actually helped his team with his piss-poor skills on the field. They won despite of him because wasn't THAT big a rock tied to their ankle. At this point, that appears to be Eli's ceiling.

i love getting people riled up about vince, though. he throws for under 200 yards and his team wins = he can't pass the ball, he sucks, his d carries him. he throws for over 200 yards and his team loses due to no run game & bad run defense = he sucks and can't win games. all this for a 2nd year QB the had less than 2.5 years of college starting experience.

Gotta look at how good a team each QB plays on to determine who's the best. Is Brady REALLY that good? Or is he just "good" and has been playing on the best TEAM?

You can't really say that until he plays on a mediocre to bad team and still puts up some numbers, like Favre or Marino. Remember how people were saying Favre was washed up just two seasons ago, when the Packers were terrible?
Well, he obviously was the same player, just didn't have any teammates.

Look at Philip Rivers....Norv Turner has ruined the Chargers, and Rivers is taking a lot of the heat. Nothing wrong with Philip...he's still a better QB than either of his draft compadres, Sheli or Worthlessberger, but his team is killing him. I don't see too many people blaming LT when he's averaging 30 ypg less than last season. But Norv Turner is the problem. He sucks a head coach, and now Chargers fans probably wish Marty was still there.

The Giants will be okay if Eli can develop into an average QB like Phil Simms was, who can just run the offense and not give games away, and let their defense stuff the other teams. That's all they can ever expect from Eli.....he's never going to be a gun-slinging, Elway-esque, come-from-behind-shootout kind of QB.

Yeah, that Brady, always playing with superstar pro bowl receivers like Reche Caldwell, Jabbar Gaffney, David Givens, David Patten, Deion Branch, Andre Davis, etc. etc. etc.

Man that Brady has been BLESSED with talented receivers to throw to!
 
We need to see 4 straight games of the Giants with the Pillsbury Throwboy Jared Lorenzen to truely appreciate how good Eli is....

Not in the past, but this year he does have the WR talent, and this is the first year he's ever been better than the 6th ranked QB in the league. Yet people have been saying he's the best because he's won the Super Bowl a few times. Big deal. That's one game a year. A QB alone can't get you to a Super Bowl.

But you missed the point....Brady has NOT played on mediocre teams. And he hasn't ever put up the big numbers until this year, but the Pats won anyway.
My point was, it takes more than a QB. That's why I still say Dan Marino is the best ever, better than Montana or Elway. Dan didn't play defense or run the ball. His offensive line was usually offensive. And he still put up the numbers.
Rings don't mean that much....they just mean you played on a better team. Seriously....Phil Simms has two rings. He isn't even in the conversation about great QB's. Neither is Theisman. Or Steve Young. Jim Plunkett. Troy Aikman.
All won Super Bowls, some multiple times. A ring does not qualify you as a great QB.
And I'm not saying Brady isn't a great QB, just saying he isn't THAT great...yet. Let's see him play for the Rams or the Panthers and put up some good numbers, then we'll see if he's great.
